Team Dignitas’ HGC Preview: Phase 2 - Week 2

Thu 5th Jul 2018 - 8:33pm

Last week was the first week back to HGC League play after the Mid-Season Brawl in Sweden. Team Dignitas played against Zealots and took a convincing 3-0 victory. With the current standings, a 3-0 win can give a team a huge advantage in the rankings.

This week, the team has two matches; one against Method and one against Monkey Menagerie. Hopefully, the momentum from MSB and last week’s win will help Team Dignitas achieve a couple more victories this weekend. Sights are set for the Western Clash, which is inching closer every week, so every victory matters.

Team Dignitas vs. Method - Friday, July 6th at 11:00 am PDT / 8:00 pm CEST

Method saw some changes in their roster recently, welcoming back BadBenny and adding adrd. Last week they took a 3-0 victory against Granit Gaming. Similar to Team Dignitas, Method busted out the Yrel off-lane to much success. Her popularity across regions has grown and we can expect this to continue as this weekend teams will play on a patch where she received buffs. She also seems to be the new favourite hero for Jonathan "Wubby" Gunnarsson, so expect to see some Yrel picks and possibly some bans.

Lawrence “Atherangel” Harper is Method’s off-lane player. So far this season he has focused on playing Blaze, a hero that is one of the top solo lane picks currently. He also played Yrel in one game, so we know this hero will be in contestation with Wubby. Thrall is another hero Athero has been known to pick, and currently, Thrall sits in a mid-level position in terms of meta.

Dehaka or Sonya could be seen as more viable picks, depending on the circumstances. For Wubby, Blaze and Yrel have been his go-to heroes so far this season. At MSB we saw Wubby play Dehaka, and even the occasional Leoric, something we could expect in future Team Dignitas drafts as they like to use him in blow-up compositions.

Team Dignitas vs. Monkey Menagerie - Sunday, July 8th at 9:00 am PDT / 6:00 pm CEST

Monkey Menagerie is the new team that came out of Tricked Esport departing from the HotS scene. Last week they played two series, one against Zealots where they won, and one against Team Liquid where they lost. Having picked up Lyubomir “Splendour” Kozlovski as their Support player, the team seems to be off to a good start this season.

The Support meta is pretty cut and dry at the moment. Malfurion remains the top Support. If he is unavailable, some teams like Monkey Menagerie lean more towards Rehgar, while Team Dignitas seems to pick Deckard or Kharazim. Stukov and Uther have their moments but the main focus for teams is either first picking Malfurion, banning him, or letting the other team have him while going for a composition that works well against him. Kenn "Zaelia" Rasmussen feels very confident on his Kharazim and Deckard, so if Malfurion isn’t an option, we will most likely see him on one of these two.

The games will be broadcasted on the BlizzHeroes Twitch. As usual, you can join us on the DIGscord during the games for live discussion. It’ll be a busy weekend for the boys, but an exciting one for all of us!
