Team Dignitas’ HGC Preview: Week 9

Thu 12th Apr 2018 - 7:26pm

An excellent result from Week 8 with two wins means Team Dignitas have qualified for the Mid-Season Brawl as the auto-qualified first seed! Well done to the team! It was a challenging weekend as we saw both Diamond Skin and Method give Team Dignitas some very close and nail-biting games. For example, the first game between Method and Team Dignitas lasted 37 minutes on Dragon Shire! It was an epic back-and-forth of capturing shrines and preventing the objective capture. Even with the difficulties, the team prevailed with a 3-1 against Diamond Skin and a 3-0 against Method.

Tassadar made an appearance in 6 out of the 7 games and was, for the most part, picked up by Team Dignitas. Hanzo has also remained a popular fixture in their compositions having been played 4 times. We saw a wide variety of Tanks as well, with Blaze, E.T.C., and Arthas showing up again for Team Dignitas. Probably one of the most unexpected compositions was their second game against Method. Malfurion, Junkrat, Tracer, Stitches... and Jonathan “Wubby” Gunnarsson on Tassadar?! As usual, the hooks from Jérôme “JayPL” Trinh were on point and Wubby pulled off some important Force Walls on Tassadar as well. Each week Team Dignitas are showing how well they can adjust their strategies with the evolving meta. And it seems that each week we get to see someone play a Hero we’ve never or have rarely seen them play before.

With only two weeks left of HGC League play, the team can relax a little knowing they are secured for MSB. As always though, the team will be fighting hard for the win to maintain their reputations as the top team in EU.

Team Dignitas vs. Tricked Esport - Sunday, April 15th at 9:00 am PDT / 6:00 pm CEST

Tricked Esport is currently at a W-L score of 4-7, putting them at 6th place. They’ve had a rough start to the second part of Phase 1, having lost to Diamond Skin, Team Liquid, and Fnatic. Even their series against Leftovers went the full 5 games.

When it comes to Tanks, Alexander “Remmerballer” Remmerswaal has been quite varied. That is, besides last week in their series against Leftovers, where he played Diablo every single game. Whether the team thinks Diablo is now the go-to Tank or it just fit with their compositions against Leftovers, we can’t be sure. He has played Garrosh, Muradin, and Johanna, just as JayPL has, but JayPL has also played E.T.C. and Stitches lately. Most of the Tanks still look very strong, and the ones that aren’t S-Tier picks like Diablo and Garrosh, fit very well into most situations and compositions. We’ll have to see if Tricked want to prioritize the Diablo for themselves, even to just keep it away from JayPL. But with all the viable Tank options right now, it may be difficult to ban out JayPL’s roster of heroes.

We’ve been really enjoying everyone who has stopped by the #DIGscord to watch the games live, so please, come join us this weekend! We’ll be there on Sunday, hoping for the #DIGWIN and the conclusion to the wacky Dignijet story as told by Kenn “Zaelia” Rasmussen. You can watch the game on Sunday at the usual place, the BlizzHeroes Twitch.
