DreamHack Masters Malmö started on August 30 and ran until Sunday, September 3. Hopefully, you were able to watch as teams defeated one another to take the prize of a quarter million dollars. The event followed the traditional format of a group stage with (1) double-elimination best-of-one matches, (2) best-of-three single-elimination matches, and (3) best-of-three single-elimination (playoff) matches. The first three days were the group to group matches (four groups composed of four teams each), and the last two days were playoffs.

The Participating Teams

Twelve teams were at the event:

1. SK Gaming

2. North

4. Immortals

5. Astralis

6. NatusVincere

7. Fnatic

8. Gambit Esports

9. FaZe Clan

10. G2 Esports

11. Cloud9

12. Ninjas in Pyjamas

Also, four more teams joined the twelve teams:

13. B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape (Asia-Oceania Qualifier)

14. Team EnVyUs (Europe Qualifier)

15. mousesports (second Europe Qualifier)

16. Renegades (North America Qualifier)

The combination of these sixteen top teams made an interesting event since they are close in rankings.

The Matches

· Group A: SK Gaming, North, Cloud9, and B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape

· Group B: Astralis,, NatusVincere, and Renegades

· Group C: Gambit Esports, FaZe Clan, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and mousesports

· Group D: Immortals, G2 Esports, Team EnVyUs, and Fnatic

Each group had the best-of-one double eliminations followed by the best-of-three single elimination matches. The top two teams of each group made their way to the playoffs. The first matches of the event were SK Gaming vs. B.O.O.T-ds and North vs. Cloud9 (Group A), and Astralis vs. Renegades and vs. NatusVincere (Group B). Then, there was Gambit vs. mousesports and FaZe vs. Ninjas (Group C); and lastly, Immortals vs. Fnatic and G2 vs. EnVyUs (Group D).

These kinds of matchups probably had the betting tables in an uproar because of the uncertainty and tension. In a nutshell, G2 Esports came out in first in a close battle against North.

Quick Wrap Up: Souvenir CSGO Skins

Unfortunately, DreamHack Masters Malmö2017 isn’t a Valve sponsored event. In fact, there are no CSGO Skins to collect. The events so far for this year that had skins were PGL Krakow and ELEAGUE Atlanta. For collectors out there, the event was good to watch even though there weren’t any souvenirs.
