The changes introduced for Season 5 have been very impactful for all roles. The changed map combined with the swathes of item changes have meant each role has had to change how it plays in multiple ways. The item changes have been especially impactful for ADCs, as their builds have changed drastically. We got in contact with our star ADC Kenny "Arkkyl" Kuska and asked him on his thoughts about the state of the ADC role after the various changes.

Arkkyl talks about Season 5, ADC changes and the new meta!

What are your thoughts on how Season 5 has changed the ADC role? Has it benefitted your playstyle or have you had to change?

Arkkyl: It has definitely benefitted my playstyle due to there being more 1v1 situations, but I also had to change the way I rotate since the map is bigger.

The new map is much larger and a lot harder to traverse. How has this impacted rotations for ADCs?

Arkkyl: Deciding when to rotate is much tougher. There are a lot more situations where it is better for me to just keep my lane pressure and either push down my tower or invade their jungle instead of rotating to a fight.

What new/changed items excite you the most and why?

Arkkyl: Definitely the map. It may be an obvious answer, but when you grind the game day in day out for months at a time, a change of scenery amongst all the other changes is very refreshing mentally.

Do you agree with the consensus that it’s a crit meta right now? Why?

Arkkyl: Yes. Overall it is simply just more DPS, and also more sustainability when paired with Devourer's Gloves.

Do you think the changes in Season 5 allow for more build/playstyle variety in the ADC role?

Arkkyl: That will depend on how they manage crit, since it is so strong at the moment.

What is your favourite and least favourite change?

Arkkyl: I very much prefer a higher amount of 1v1 and 2v2 scenarios. However, there is less farm for the ADCs in comparison to mid and jungle, which obviously I would prefer it be the other way around.

How has this season affected how you’re going to practise?

Arkkyl: Just due to the number of changes compared to last season we will definitely have to be grinding a lot more both individually and as a team in order to figure everything out meta and play-wise.

Do you think Team Dignitas’ playstyle is suited for this season or are you guys going to have to adapt?

Arkkyl: I think a mixture of both. With a bigger map and more 1v1 opportunities, it will suit us more individually. Of course, though, we will have to adapt as a team with how we communicate and play the map.

Would you say magical ADCs are viable right now? Please discuss

Arkkyl: Not at the moment in my opinion. Just because of how easily they can be abused early game as well as the strength of crit right now.

I'd like to thank Arkkyl for his valuable time and insight. If you'd like to follow or get in touch with him, you can find him on his Twitter and Twitch!
