After a great 2-0 victory against Lion Guard Esports, we took some time to sit down with our new Smite lineup to get to know them a bit better. We asked them about their personal favourite gods for Season 4 and the reasons for their choices. Let's find out what they had to say!

ASK DIG Smite: Favorite gods for Season 4

Arkkyl - Anhur, Rama & Apollo

All three of Arkkyl's favourite gods are excellent fighters and gods that excel at utilising the Season 4 meta to their advantage.

First, we have Anhur, who Arkkyl said he values "because of his insane 1v1 potential." While Anhur has always been good at this, it is the fact that ADCs are left alone for so long that makes this so valuable in Season 4. If you can consistently kill the enemy ADC without the need for ganks, you'll almost certainly gain lane dominance.

While Rama certainly isn't as good of an early fighter as Anhur, he definitely does not struggle to clear the lane and can handle himself in the high-pressure environment of a Season 4 duo lane. Arkkyl likes him in particular due to the fact that "the ult is really fun and skillful."

Finally, Arkkyl also enjoys Apollo for Season 4 because "flying into a teamfight and outrotating your opponent is fun." In addition to this, Apollo's buffs and the changes to his most popular items have really made him a power pick for Season 4, so it's no wonder Arkkyl values him so highly.

Trixtank - Bacchus, Hercules & Sun Wukong

While the number of viable supports has always been large, the addition of new and specialised items in Season 4 has really opened the doors for almost all warriors, guardians, and even some assassins to be picked for the supporting role. We can see evidence of this from Trixtank's choices for his favourites.

The most traditional choice of the three, Trixtank likes Bacchus because "his engage and damage is incredible. It has the potential to take 50% off of any carry's health late game, which makes it super fun!" Bacchus has always been a solid choice because of his versatility and ability to flex between an offensive and defensive support.

However, his other two choices are much more irregular. Trixtank enjoys Hercules due to his "sustain, peeling and great AoE damage with his ult." Meanwhile, he likes Wukong because of the "1v1 potential even though you're a support."

While Trixtank has always been playing these gods, it's the changes to the support role in Season 4 that has been making them so successful recently.

Zyrhoes - The Morrigan, Thoth & Poseidon

With the mid lane no longer being the focal point of the entire early and mid game, it opens up many different opportunities for the mid role. As long as the god can clear the wave and make impactful rotations, they can be successful in mid. Zyrhoes has been known to play off-meta gods for a while, but almost all of his favourites are now actually viable metawise due to how open the Season 4 mid lane is.

Zyrhoes' absolute favourite god right now is Thoth. As he says, "There's no better feeling than using 'Evade and Punish' combined with 'Glyph of Pain' to set up picks aggressively for your team."

While Poseidon may not seem like he experienced many changes going into Season 4, the buff to Hastened Fatalis really opened up a new playstyle for him and Zyrhoes has been enjoying it, saying "Poseidon is really fun to play with Hastened Fatalis and this meta allows you to build it early."

Finally, the flagship god of Season 4, The Morrigan. The Morrigan is really the epitome of Season 4 mid laners: versatile and impactful. While her clear is subpar, Zyrhoes enjoys her because "she can be played with many different playstyles, which is appealing to me."

QvoFred - Susano, Bakasura & Ratatoskr

The jungle has changed the most out of any role in the transition to Season 4. Now, pressure is key and your team's jungler needs to be able to exert pressure all over the map.

QvoFred's three favourite gods (Susano, Bakasura and Ratatoskr) do exactly that. As he says, "I really like these gods because they all have a great impact in the game and if played right create a situation where the team will likely win the game." Low impact junglers don't have a place in the Season 4 jungle and gods like Susano, Bakasura and Ratatoskr can carry games if played right.

Variety - Tyr, Ra & Ymir

The solo lane continues to have a variety of different gods being viable and for many different reasons.

It is no surprise that one of Variety's favourite gods continues to be Tyr, due to the "massive outplay potential his kit has." One of his trademark gods, Tyr has seen some changes but the amount of control he brings to a team will always be valuable.

On the other side of the spectrum, Variety also likes Ra for this season, especially "for the snipes that can win you games." However, Ra is a lot more than just an ult bot. His very utilitarian kit allows you to help your team in many ways.

Finally, another one of Variety's signature gods, Ymir. The amount of control that Ymir brings is insane, with Variety specifically valuing "the walls to cut off people and make plays with."

Overall, the most valued qualities for a good solo laner continue to be their utility, control, and lane clear.

Thank you for reading! I hope you've gained some insight into the Team Dignitas Smite team and the Season 4 meta!
