Introducing the 2017 Team Dignitas Smite Team

As the Smite Pro League was gearing up for the 2017 Season, Team Dignitas picked up a brand-new roster for the new season. We chose to grab Variety’s New Team. This new iteration of Team Dignitas is full of veteran players that left their former teams and came together to win.

Variety’s New Team competed for two weeks in the pre-relegations open bracket and dominated the event, showcasing their immense talent. This made them an easy pickup for Team Dignitas as we were looking for players to fill out SPL spot. Below, we talk about each player and their accomplishments.

The captain and solo laner of the new roster is Harry 'Variety' Cumming. Variety was seen as a poor to middling player in Season 1, but has steadily and vastly improved over the years. Most recently, he made it to the finals of the Smite World Championship in January and played his heart out, nearly earning MVP of the event. Variety was on Team Dignitas back in Season 2 and has put on the colors again to continue his path of improvement.

Variety is an all-around great solo laner. He has a strong god pool and amazing mechanics. He might be the best solo laner in the world right now and wishes to maintain that status. Variety has shown the ability to play characters such as Tyr and Ratatoskr, gods who are very strong right now. He also has a deep god pool, able to pull out niche picks in favorable situations. Variety can put Team Dignitas on his back if needed and can also play setup man, whichever is needed to win.

One of the most veteran players in Europe, Anders 'QvoFred' Korsbo is the jungler for Team Dignitas. QvoFred won the launch tournament and has stayed a consistent presence at the top of European Smite ever since. Qvo was in the conversation for best jungler in Europe and maybe the world in the latter part of Season 3, but his team was unfortunately unable to make it to the world championship. Qvofred has joined Team Dignitas and is back with a vengeance to prove himself as a force to be reckoned with.

QvoFred is a very aggressive jungler. He has no qualms about putting himself in the middle of the enemy team and causing havoc. Qvo is known to have a diverse and unpredictable god pool, willing to pull out whichever character is best in the situation. The meta right now favors early aggression and Qvo can capitalize on this to snowball Team Dignitas to victory.

Another long-time veteran, Joakim 'Zyrhoes' Verngren plays in the mid lane for Team Dignitas. Zyrhoes has had a storied career over the years. He started in Season 1 as a jungler before transitioning to mid in Season 2. Zyrhoes was an amazing jungler and transitioned to mid very quickly, one of the few players to swap roles and still be one of the best players in the world. Zyrhoes spent some of Season 3 on a team that was falling apart before coaching the eventual world champions. Zyrhoes has returned to the mid lane to help bring greatness to himself and Team Dignitas.

Zyrhoes is another versatile player on the roster. He can play a variety of styles and his multirole experience allows him to adapt quickly, both in-game and to a new meta. Zyrhoes has a mastery of the standard mid god pool and can bring out pocket picks, such as Thanatos, with great success. Zyrhoes is a strong addition to the Team Dignitas lineup.

Coming over with his real-life friend and long-time jungler is Team Dignitas support player Jeppe 'Trixtank' Gylling. Along with QvoFred, Trixtank won the Launch Tournament and sat near the top of Europe for the last few years. Trixtank unfortunately fell short in the Season 3 European Regionals and did not make the world tournament. His dynamic with QvoFred is world class and as a unit, they came to Team Dignitas to tear up Europe once again.

Trixtank is known to be an aggressive initiator, but can also sit back and peel. He can jump into the enemy team as Bacchus and cause chaos or skirt the edges of a fight as Khepri and save his teammates. Even on defensive gods, Trixtank can be aggressive early and snowball his hunter. He is a shotcaller with an eye for advantageous teamfights and initiations. Trixtank is a very creative player and can use the uncertainties in the meta to his advantage and take his opponents by surprise.

The newest player on Team Dignitas, Kenny 'Arkkyl' Kuska plays in the hunter positon. Arkkyl was a rookie in Season 3 and was the shining light on a poor team. Even though his team was dead last during the first half of the Fall Split, Arkkyl and his team managed to surprise everyone at their group LAN and qualify for the Super Regionals, where they again looked poor. Arkkyl was the stand out member of this team and will continue to grow and win under the Team Dignitas banner.

Arkkyl was a very strong and mechanical hunter in Season 3. His talent and room to grow was evident. When paired with the experience of the rest of the team, Arkkyl will quickly improve and become a top hunter.

The coach of this new iteration of Team Dignitas is Kurtis 'Biggy' Davidson. Biggy is an Oceanic player and veteran of the scene. He has stayed at the top of the Oceania scene since its inception. Biggy has also been to both SWCs that Oceania has been invited to (once as a player and again in 2017 as a coach). With a split of coaching regional champions under his belt, Biggy is poised to bring the players of Team Dignitas together and push them to great heights.
