Interview with Mene on Blizzcon performance and NA solo queue

Thomas "Mene" Cailleux is the Ranged Assassin for the Team Dignitas Heroes of the Storm team, which made it to the top four in this year's world championship. After Blizzcon's conclusion, Novalas found Mene for an interview to talk about the event.

Team Dignitas is back once again with yet another player interview, this time with Mene the ranged assassin player for our Heroes of the Storm team so tell us, how are you enjoying Blizzcon so far?

Mene: Blizzcon has been pretty good, I'm a big fan of Blizzard so it was a big dream for me to be there and I enjoyed everything, everything was good like practice and so on, I like it.

Did you get a chance to try out the new champions Ragnaros and Verian?

Mene: No I didn't, I had the chance to do it, but I didn't do it because I don't want to play new heroes before a tournament.

You guys made top 4 in the tournament, unfortunately you lost to Ballistix. Tell us about what went wrong?

Mene: So, first we played really good, we had good drafting and good rotations and I think if we did the same the last day, then we could win against Ballistix, but we didn't. I think it was mostly misplays and drafts, like we knew they were the best team in the world, we didn't win a lot against them in scrims, we didn't have any strategies against them, so it was more like 'if we had a good day and they had a bad day', but they had a good day so they won.


Yeah, that was definitely a rough one and they ended up winning the tournament against Fnatic. Moving past that, what do you think that you are going to improve on leading into the future, now that we see that you are able to take games from the Korean teams?

Mene: I think we will have to go to Korea again to practice against the Korean teams, maybe extend our strategies and Hero pools because we are too much into the EU meta, so definitely going to Korea instead of having bootcamps in EU or NA then I think we will improve.


Speaking of NA, you have been here since oct. 21st. More than 10 days now. Tell us a bit about the NA solo queue experience?

Mene: I don't like it, I have been playing on EU, KR and NA now and I think that EU and KR are the best, they are on an equal level, but NA is really bad.


What was the ranking you achieved in the end on the NA ranking?

Mene: I ended up as #33 Grand Master, so it's pretty okay. I think I could have made top 10 if I was really try-harding.


Do you think that the NA ladder contributed to the showing of the NA teams here?

Mene: I think so yes, you mostly practice mechanics in Hero League and if you don't have a good quality Hero League, then you will be less good mechanically, so I think they should probably good to Korea and play some Hero League to improve their mechanics.

Mene: Thank you for your support, sorry we didn't win Blizzcon, we will do our best for the next season, keep following us and thanks again.
