Team Dignitas’ HGC Preview: Phase 2 - Week 4

Team Dignitas finished off another double-set weekend, this time with perfect results, getting two 3-0s and becoming the only undefeated European team right now. The confidence showed during their series against Granit Gaming as Team Dignitas was in control and dictated the macro game. Even when they were behind in Game 2 on Tomb of the Spider Queen, they remained patient and waited for their late-game composition to scale and took the win.
During their series against Team Liquid, Team Dignitas had some unconventional drafts. In Game 1, they drafted an Abathur-Tassadar support composition that forced some bad choices from Team Liquid in the late-game, allowing Team Dignitas to get the win. In Game 2, we saw Sgt. Hammer, Rehgar, and Medivh. Rehgar seemed like an odd pick for Kenn "Zaelia" Rasmussen since he leans more towards Kharazim, but he chose Bloodlust instead of Ancestral Healing for the Heroic, which then allowed Sgt. Hammer to dish out a lot of damage. Game 3 was similar to other previous Team Dignitas drafts this Phase with the double-support Tassadar-Malfurion with a Valla hypercarry.
The clean 3-0s from the weekend pushed Team Dignitas clearly to the top of the leaderboards and have qualified them for the Western Clash in August. With only two more matches left, one this upcoming weekend and the final series in Week 5, Team Dignitas are looking to keep this momentum going. They face off against Fnatic who is a familiar but challenging rival. On top of a tough opponent, this weekend a third ban will be added into the first rotation of the draft. This will likely have quite a dramatic effect on the current meta, as teams will be searching for the best replacements. We may see some very interesting drafts.
Team Dignitas vs. Fnatic - Saturday, July 21st at 11:00 am PDT / 8:00 pm CEST
This series will be a classic EU showdown, but so-far this Phase, Fnatic has been struggling. A large factor in this is that Fnatic needs more time to adjust to their new roster and their brand new player scooped up from Hero League, Petar “LastHope” Kovacevic. Currently, they are placed 5th in the League standings.

Between Assassin players Vilhelm “POILK” Flennmark and Thomas “Mene” Cailleux, mages are always largely contested. Jaina has been a popular pick lately for POILK, but both players have been playing quite a lot of Li-Ming as well. If these two higher tier mages are unavailable, POILK usually prefers Chromie, while Mene likes to play Gul’dan. Fenix is another option, but he plays as a sort of hybrid between Mage and Auto-Attack hero and he struggles a bit in this current Yrel meta.
With the third ban coming in, it’s possible we could see a deep dive into less played heroes, like the recently reworked Raynor, but most likely we'll still see a lot of familiar faces like Valla, Stg. Hammer, and perhaps Kael'thas. We’ve seen Mene be the second support for his team, playing both Tassadar and Abathur, while POILK plays the hypercarry roles like Valla and Tracer. The meta will certainly shake up this weekend, so be prepared for some possible surprises!
As usual, you can join us over in the #DIGscord for the viewing party during the game, both in voice and in chat! We love to hear everyone’s draft analysis and predictions. Maybe if we cheer #DIGWIN loud enough, this will be another smooth 3-0 weekend for Team Dignitas.
