Team Dignitas’ HGC Preview: Week 7

We finished Week 6 with a 2-0, but it wasn’t easy! Surprisingly, it was Team Liquid who gave Team Dignitas a run for their money.
It was a very close series, with Team Liquid getting the first two maps quite decisively. Team Liquid was very smart with their drafts, often banning out Tracer and making sure to pick up strong Heroes like Stukov, Sonya, and Medivh. When not banned, Garrosh was a highly contested Tank between both teams, as were the Shimada brothers Hanzo and Genji. Team Dignitas was able to turn things around in Game 3 and take back the series with a reverse sweep, flexing Jonathan “Wubby” Gunnarsson onto some unusual Heroes for his role, like Sonya and Zeratul.
The series against Fnatic was also a close one, but Team Dignitas managed to take it 3-0. Fnatic relied heavily on their Jaina pick in two games, but it struggled against the constant poke and disruption from Team Dignitas’ drafts. Even though Fnatic was often close in experience or even leading, they struggled with the important game-winning teamfights. Junkrat and Hanzo were main staples for Team Dignitas, as well as two rare games with Zaelia on Stukov. Again, Garrosh was also important to Team Dignitas’ draft while Fnatic relied more on E.T.C., although Diablo was denied to Fnatic on the last map as Team Dignitas picked it up for themselves.

Team Dignitas vs. Leftovers - Friday, March 30th at 9:00 am PDT / 6:00 pm CEST
Leftovers have struggled since joining the HGC League from Open Division, but their improvement week by week has really started to earn them some accolades. In Week 5, they defeated Diamond Skin 3-0 and this past weekend they took Method to a full 5 game series and won it 3-2. Leftovers have a very similar draft style to Team Dignitas and they are quite flexible with Heroes. Sonya, Hanzo, Malfurion, Junkrat, Maiev, Garrosh - it seems that Leftovers have adapted pretty quickly to the new meta emerging.

Medivh and Maeiv are two heroes we saw get banned a lot in Week 6. If they made it past the bans, they were often picked up by teams who felt confident with them. Both Joshua “Snitch” Bennett and Arkadiusz “Bl3kitny” Czarnecki play these heroes and there will definitely be some competition over who gets them. Junkrat, as we know, has become more and more common in the Team Dignitas draft. Not many other teams seem to be able to utilize Junkrat in the same way Team Dignitas does, but Leftovers did pull him out for their final game against Method, which they won, and their recent games against Zealots.
