Interview with dignitas/cajunb on his return to Team Dignitas
Our old teammate René 'Cajunb' Borg has returned to join the current Team Dignitas CSGO lineup. We caught up with him for an interview where he reflects on the transition period from Astralis to Team Dignitas, their upcoming goals and his thoughts on inferno and nuke.
First and foremost welcome back René! What are your initial thoughts on this deal? Are you looking forward to playing with the new team under Team Dignitas?
Cajunb: I actually feel really good about this change, the role which I've received in this team really suits me and the team has really given me a warm welcome. I worked with
Team Dignitas as an organisation before and I know how professional they are, so I am looking forward to working with them again.
You played with Astralis for over a year and got used to how the team works, do you think you will be able to adapt into the style of play created by MSL and the rest of the team quickly?
Cajunb: I don't think that it will be that hard to adapt to his playstyle, MSL is a really good caller and knows how to use his players. I think that we can make the best out of this swap and
get even better than their old lineup.
You are one of the founding members of Astralis and co-owner, can you please explain how this works now that you're a Team Dignitas player?
Cajunb: I got some shares in Astralis, but to make it short, if astralis and team-dignitas made it into a major final, I would lose alot more if astralis won. I am a Team Dignitas player, which means I play for them and I play to win every single time no matter the opponent.
What have you set as your first goal that you want to achieve with the team?
Cajunb: Our first goal is to qualify for the major in cologne. We will travel to a bootcamp in katowice on the 3rd and stay there for 5-6 days and afterwards play the major qualification in katowice.
We got our group last night for Eleague aswell which means that we will travel directly from the major qualifcation to the US.
As the oldest CS player on the team do you believe you can bring experience that might push the team just enough to becoming a consistently top finishing team?
Cajunb: I feel that I have more experience than the rest of the players, but they have all been really good at listening and I am really thankfully for that. This team really feels like a unit.
Our team has a bad record against Astralis, do you think you'll be able to improve that as you know their strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else?
Cajunb: I am not going to say that I will be the deciding factor against astralis, they are an amazing team and have some of the best invidiuals in the world so its gonna be hard. If you
ask me if I believe that we can beat them, then yes. I believe that we can throw them off the Danish throne.
You have had a chance to play with your new team against EnvyUs. How was your experience, despite the loss? Did you enjoy playing with your new team?
Cajunb: I enjoy playing with this team, they are all really skilled and we could have won. After the game I was really suprised how good this team is and how they work together.
I'm sure that we will manage to get some great results in the future.
Currently inferno is, presumably, being reworked. What do you want to see from the new inferno and what do you not want to see?
Cajunb: Hmm, to be honest I actually liked inferno as it was. So I don't really have any big ideas or anything that I would change.
As Nuke took the place of Inferno do you think professional teams will start playing the map soon? Do you like the map and are there any changes you would make to that map?
Cajunb: I know that alot of teams already started to play nuke and we will start at our bootcamp to practice it aswell. I tried to practice it 2-3 times with astralis and I actually liked it, so I look forward to playing it more with Dignitas!
Any final words or shout-outs to anybody?
Cajunb: First of all I want to thank Team Dignitas and their sponsors for giving me a warm welcome and really making me feel like I am apart of this familiy. I also want to thank the team for giving me this chance to play with them and at last thank Astralis for a great time, I really enjoyed my time with them both inside and outside the game.
We would like to thank René for the interview. All the best of luck for the upcoming qualifiers and Eleague from myself and the entire staff, we hope you qualify for the major and succeed at Eleague!
