Foundations: Alienware

It is always nice to know where your favourite brands and sponsors come from and how they got started. Well we are starting with custom gaming pc provider Alienware.

Who
Alienware is the brainchild of Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila who saw an opportunity in the PC market when all looked glum. Back then prices of PC prices were dropping as clone PC’s started to reach the market. Nelson and Alex only had $10,000 to start off their new venture with after getting rejected by every bank in Miami undeterred they took their money and just about scrapped through the first year of business. Soon in the second year lady luck shined down and the Area 51 received top reviews from gaming magazines and Alienware had arrived.

When
It all began in 1996 according to Nelson when interviewed by ObsoleteGamer the first few months were pretty intense. The company was the first pc gaming hardware manufacturer and by 2006 was producing over $100 million in sales at which point Alienware joined the Dell family.

What
