Weapon Mastery Vol. 1: The SMGs of PUBG

Submachine guns are one of the best firearms to wield in combat. Compact and efficient, SMGs are easy to carry and are reliable weapons for quick kills — boasting enough versatility for long range or up-close firefights. While some may say that it’s the skill of the player that determines the rate of success, having a wicked firearm in your arsenal does help. Today, we’ll guide you through the SMGs of PUBG and continue with other weapons in the following posts to come.

Here’s a look at the top SMGs you should be arming yourself to outgun your opponents on PUBG.

The Micro Uzi

One of the most common firearms in PUBG — perhaps even more common than shotguns — the Micro Uzi is the trigger-happy player’s ideal choice. Though a bit compact, it packs one heck of a punch as it discharges an impressive 14.1 bullets per second. Thanks to its stability, many PUBG players prefer it for close-quarter combat situations.

The Verdict: The mere fact that it takes only 1.78 seconds to empty a clip makes this the perfect fast-killing SMG. It’s by far the top SMG choice, and it gets our seal of approval.

The UMP9

This SMG has an ample killing rate thanks to its 35-damage rating. Compared to the Uzi, the UMP9 has a tad bit more regarding recoil — which can be enough to dissuade players from using it. With a little player adjustment, however, it shouldn’t be too tough to overcome during gameplay.

The Verdict: The UMP9’s most redeeming feature comes in the form of three firing modes: Single, Semi, and Fully-Automatic. With 40 rounds in the magazine, the UMP9 takes a bit of getting used to but will save you in sticky situations.

The Tommy Gun

We’ll try to be as diplomatic as possible here. There’s a reason why players hardly pick this gun up. Simply put, it’s terrible! The stability is downright hopeless. That said, it deals the most damage in the SMG class (38). Just don’t rely on it for accuracy — use it more for spraying whole areas with bullets while praying to the PUBG Gods you’ll hit someone.

The Verdict: Unless you’ve got nothing but your fists to protect yourself, don’t bother with this weapon. You might even be better off with a frying pan — at least that one is a more accurate weapon.

The VSS (VintovkaSnayperskayaSpetsialnaya)

The VSS is one-part SMG, one-part sniper. Call it a hybrid or call it an abomination, one fact remains: it’s an awful weapon to wield. Don’t pick this gun up unless you have no other alternative — seriously! The good news (yes, it does have some redeeming qualities) is that thanks to its suppressor, target enemies will find it virtually impossible to pinpoint your exact location as you rain down a hail of bullets on them.

The Verdict: Use once and destroy! No amount of PUBG skins can make this gun a more attractive prospect. Pick this weapon up early on and ditch it once you find a suitable AR.

The Vector

This bad boy boasts a rapid rate of fire with little to no recoil whatsoever. While it deals a modest damage rating of only 31, its unbelievable rate of firing more than makes up for it. The only negative thing we can think of with the Vector is that it has an unfulfilling 13 rounds in a magazine — 25 if it’s an extended mag. But then again, that’s something you should expect because of its rate of fire.

The Verdict: Five stars! If you see an enemy armed with this SMG, run the other way!

Remember how you’re not supposed to bring a knife to a gunfight? Well, the same rule applies to guns. With the versatility of SMGs, however, you increase your chances of surviving different types of encounters. That said, each SMG still has its unique quirk that can potentially spell an early death or chicken dinner for you.

Your choice of weapon can dictate how well you fight and how long you last on the battlefield. In a game like PUBG, weapon choice is a difference-maker.
