How to CM Shadowmoon Burial grounds

Guide to CM Shadowmoon Burial grounds.

One of the many Challenge Mode dungeons you might encounter now before the release of Highmaul is the Shadowmoon Burial Grounds. The quest is to kill all four bosses as well as atleast 36 mobs to achieve the Dungeon Completion, and this guide will help you to defeat the instance with relatively easy to learn tactics.

What we used for this instance was: Brewmaster, Frost Mage, Holy Priest, Feral and Enhancement Shaman. Keep in mind that this can easily be done with any class, but may require you to rethink tactics.

Sadana Bloodfury

The first boss is Sadana Bloodfury. The easiest way to do this boss was to stack before every daggerfall in order to keep all the daggers in the same position. We started on Red before the first daggerfall and moved as a unit to the closest left marker on the map. Which in this case is Red to Blue, Blue to White, White to Green and Green to Purple, we needed a fifth marker because of the low dps the group had and this Covers the abillity Daggerfall. The red arrows indicate that you move during the Daggerfall not before or after. Moving before may cause daggers to spawn on odd places and moving after will result in you getting hit.

If you have killed Sadana in the normal or heroic version of this dungeon you know that the faded runes in the inner circle(purple colored circle) will detonate as you move through them so move in between each rune and you won’t ever be hit by them.

Dark Eclipse will almost definately one-shot you in this version, the dungeon journal hints at 400k damage, so be sure you grab the Lunar Purity before the eclipse lands. Lunar Purity is granted by standing on the circle highlighted in white during the Eclipse cast.

Make sure you kill the add she spawns every now and then, the add will always spawn on the opposite side of the room where Sadana is standing. I marked Skull for where the add in this case will spawn. Run between runes and dps it down, but not to quickly because during this cast Sadana does not deal any damage to anyone at all, therefore, waiting out the full cast is optimal to let the healer top everyone.

At this point the fight just becomes a dance, three easy steps and you will make it. Step one: Daggerfall, move during not before or after. Step two: run between the purple runes and stand on the inner circle for Eclipse and then return to the marker after you get the buff. Final step is to kill the add to avoid damage and healing on the boss!

Just Nhallish

The second boss is Nhallish and I won’t be mentioning a lot about him because he is kind of faceroll on challenge just like he is on heroic. Tactics do not actually change for the fight, he’s just an avoid stuff boss. There are small stones around the room and they will spawn adds if you step on them so be careful as that can easily lead to a wipe.

Bonemaw

On to the third boss, Bonemaw. This fight is a funny one and requires you to have a lot of awareness during the fight.

The boss starting position is on the Skull, but several times during the fight he may swap places on to either the Blue or the Red marker. First step of the fight is for the melee to stack together on the skull and the ranged to stand on the Moon marker. The reason for this is because it will spit onto random ranged players during the fight and in order to always know that the spit will land on the moonlit marker will help you alot for the coming mechanics.

The boss will inhale after a set timer and this will drag players towards the boss and consume 90% of their health bar aswell as spit them into the water, in the water you are silenced and healers can not reach you because of line of sight. At this point there are two options, either pop a sprint cooldown like Spirit Walk for Enhancement Shamans or stack in the pool on the Moonlit marker. The reason we stacked all the pools in the same place was because they can despawn during inhale, catching you offguard, and kill you. The red arrow indicates the option to run into the pool during inhale.

There is another abillity called Body Slam and will cover ⅓ of the platform. If hit the player takes 200k damage and is knocked back, so just watch out you'll be fine.

Later in the fight when Bonemaw reaches 60%(not displayed in journal) he will spawn the two mobs you fought with before the boss, they are both on low health and will have to be dealt with as fast as possible. The blue and the red marker indicates where the default spawn is and keep in mind that they can also dive into the water and come up at either markers and even together on the same marker. The green arrows indicate that two dpses will need to run to each add and stand in melee range, otherwise they will use an abillity called Caustic Spit and this hits for about 60k damage and  will deal to random players every second, therefore it was easier to have melees to stand on the adds and dps them down.

Back to the boss, and just keep in mind what we talked about and the fight becomes a fun encounter.

FINAL ROUND: Ner'zhul

The final boss is Ner’zhul

Since we had two ranged for this fight we worked out a special tactic to avoid as much damage as possible because there is a lot of it on this fight. The four markers on the outer circle are to locate where the healer and the ranged dps are standing, If the ranged dps starts on green, the healer starts on purple in order to avoid as much damage from the Omen of Death as possible as its damage is based on how close you are to the Omen.

Omen of Death will choose one ranged target in your party to spawn on and this way you will always know where the Omen of Death is. At this point you need to move either clockwise or counterclockwise the healer or the ranged dps will suffer 0 damage from the Omen. Keep in mind that only two Omen of Death can be up at the same time because after Ner’zhul spawn 2 Omens he will cast Ritual of Bones.

Have a dps as a designated marker to mark one of the adds in the wall as a skull and nuke it down, and then move through the whole created in the wall and return to the starting positions.

Extra: Trash

So in order to finish the dungeon, besides killing all the bosses, you will need to atleast kill 36 trash mobs in the instance. A lot of packs are skippable after you reach 36 monsters, but in order to kill Ner'zhul you need to defeat atleast two Void Spawns before the door to his chamber opens.  At 34 adds, start using invis potions to skip as much unnecessary time waste as possible but if you aren't going for any realm best you don't need to take this advice and just take your time and hope that you get an epic upgrade upon completing the quest.

Hope you found this guide helpful, more challenge mode guides will come in the future. Bye for now!
