Is The Future of Starcraft in Trouble?

Reddit Post

Reddit Posts show quite a day for Starcraft fans

On Oct 17 2012, the Reddit forms were filled with many issues related to Starcraft 2. From the big news of Team Slayers disbanding and Starcraft 2 players switching over to playing League of Legends, Starcraft 2 seems to be in a real bind these days. With “#savehots” being tweeted about saving the future of Starcraft 2, it has been quite a grim day for Starcraft fans. We can only ask ourselves a simple question, what is the future for Starcraft?

To be honest, everyone has their own personal story playing Starcraft, but somehow those old memories seem more cherish at moments like these. Starcraft was one of my first RTS games I ever got serious in, where I would spend my days grinding out Starcraft non-stop, not to be an better player or the best, but to have fun playing an game that was challenging and intense.

Somehow Starcraft was a game from many of our childhoods growing up in this day of age, when internet was a brand new thing. When PC gaming was still growing and RTS games wasn’t really a flagship title, we played our Command and Conquer or Doom, but none of them would ever be the same as when friends and family members would play a simple game of Starcraft together.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t the end of an era, where Starcraft 2 is going to be forgotten forever. This is just a bump in the hill, as Starcraft 2 climbs to become a big well known e-sport event. There are always ups and downs for any situations, nothing is always perfect when it comes to making a balanced game, but we can only believe that better times will come along, if we continue to support Starcraft and keep playing the game we enjoy.

Is the future of Starcraft in trouble? We can only wait and see, as fans of Starcraft, how the next events in the community will change or improve these troubled times. Play a game of Starcraft 2 and hope for the best, what matters the most is that we have fun and enjoy the things that happens next, good or bad.
