Interview with Bennna: "The point system is broken, queue timer is a factor in how much TP you get per game."

Benjamin, also known as Bennna, is a Dutch streamer at Paradigm and the #1 Smite duelist player since season 2. We managed to catch up with him for an interview where we talk about himself and season 3 dueling.

Do you have any hobbies or favorite activities besides streaming?

Bennna: I like to run, play other games where I'm not very good at and people don't expect anything from you to relax (WoW & CS GO) besides that I like to read articles mostly, physics, tech news, lifesciences, long list...

 

How do you feel at Paradigm after you were hired as one of their streamers?

Bennna: Getting into Paradigm helped me boost my viewership a lot by making more people aware of my stream, I know PDG the guys from my past as a conquest player, that's pretty much how I got into PDG in the first place. It feels just great to be part of the team.

 

What is the biggest difference between streaming on your own and as an official streamer of an organization?

Bennna: There is not much of a difference, my content didn't change at all after I joined PDG. I do however sometimes join certain stream, tournament, etc events from PDG.

 

With the increasing success of your channels have you considered doing this full-time as your main source of living?

Bennna: I currently study almost full time and don't have the time to go full-time streamer. I try to stream once/twice a day but have struggles with that. Usually stream 6 times a week. Not planning to go full-time streaming as main income source. I choose to combine university with streaming.

 

What encouraged you to start playing duel?

Bennna: I enjoy being in full control of the game. There's nothing wrong with having a team to relly on, it's just that I prefer duel. So I just started playing it and pretty much won nearly all of my games from the start when I wasnt streaming and did not have to do a god request nearly every game.

 

How do you feel being the #1 smite duel player?

Bennna: To me it has not a lot of value to be #1 in the TP list of duel besides getting viewers out of it. The point system is broken, queue timer is a factor in how much TP you get per game. Besides that, if anyone in the top 10 just decides to play 10 hours a day, he will be #1 if he just keeps his win ratio on 60% which is low for the duel top. I also do a lot of viewer request which often results in impossible matchups, so don't be surprised if I won't be on the #1 spot anymore after a while.

 

How was your experience of bringing 9 accounts to masters duel?

Bennna: This is basically how I learned the game. I dont really know how to describe this experience. After the first 8 games approximately on every account you get on your highest elo. I just felt like getting the masters icon on my accounts back then, there is not much to it.

 

What do you think about season 3 duel?

Bennna: Season 3 duel is to me not as much fun as season 2 but still very enjoyable. Magic defense got buffed and physical defense got nerfed. Also mages have cooldown issues these days. With defense being a huge factor in duel and all this, mages lost almost all their viability which leaves only the physicals to remain. Adc's, kali, loki & baka now dominate the scene. If you decide to pick any other god there isnt much to it.

 

Is there anything you would change from the game? If so, what would it be?

Bennna: There's not much that can be done about this. I do think that firstblood money is something that really doesn't belong in duel as its designed for trading kills in team based games in the early game. In duel it only serves as a huge snowballing effect.

 

Do you have new future plans which you would like your fans to know?

Bennna: I plan to work much more on my youtube channel, trying to upload a game every 2 days and consistantly stream 6 times per week. Besides that I try to organize some duel tournaments by myself or with the help from Paradigm or Battleriff.
