Ranged carry - this is the perfect name that describes the hunter. In Smite we have six of them: Apollo, Neith, Anhur, Xbalanque, Artemis and Cupid. They deal most of the damage with basic attacks this is why attack speed and critical strike chance will be essential. Here is a useful guide that will help you build every hunter in Smite.
A good hunter knows how to farm. Pay attention to minions, if a tower kills them, you won't earn gold, just experience while if you last hit it, you will be rewarded with more gold. This build will help you stay in lane longer, giving you the chance to farm. Don't be too aggressive, just focus on the minions and try to get as much gold and experience as you can.
We will start with 1500 gold and we will buy Death Toll, Tabi rank one, a mana potion and a health one.
DEATH TOLL
Cost: 800 gold (starter item)
+15 Physical Power
+90 Health
+3% Attack Speed
PASSIVE - Hitting an enemy with a basic attack restores 5 health and 1.5 mana.
TABI
Cost: 600 gold (rank 1)
+10 Physical Power
+3% Attack Speed
UNIQUE - +6% Speed (Speed does not stack with other boots).
HEALTH POTION
Cost: 50 gold (consumable)
This consumable heals 250 health over 25 seconds.
MANA POTION
Cost: 50 gold (consumable)
This consumable heals 150 mana over 25 seconds.
This is the best start for a hunter. We will gain 90 health, 25 physical power and 6% attack speed. Death Toll affects also minions aswell, so each time you hit one, it will restore your health by 5 and your mana by 1.5. Also, the hp5 and mp5 from the potions will help you sustain in lane longer giving you the chance to get enough gold for the next item: the Heartseeker.
HEARTSEEKER
Cost: 1950 gold (rank 3)
+25 Physical Power
+10% Movement speed
PASSIVE - You gain +1 Physical Power per stack. You receive 2 stacks for a god kill and 1 stack per minion kill. The stacks are halved on death. (max. 50 stacks)
We will rush the Heartseeker as soon as possible because we will need to get 50 stacks to make this item a good choice. This is a huge bet, 50 stacks will give us 50 physical power plus the 25 from item rank 3: a 75 physical power boost. There's only one problem: stacks are halved on death. You might need to get all your stacks back before getting back into a fight, so whenever you die, you will have to return to lane and get your stacks back. This is very important, 25 physical power lost in the late game are almost 10% of your total so you will need them back. Next we will finish the Warrior Tabi and buy the Asi.
WARRIOR TABI
Cost to finish: 1550 gold (rank 3)
+30 Physical Power
+9% Attack Speed
UNIQUE - +18% Movement Speed (Speed does not stack with other boots).
PASSIVE - You gain +15 Physical Penetration.
ASI
Cost: 1850 (rank 3)
+15% Physical Lifesteal
+30% Attack Speed
+15 Physical Penetration
PASSIVE - If you drop below 35% health, you gain an additional 25% physical lifesteal for 5 seconds. Can only occur once every 15 seconds.
The asi is an underrated item. It's very cheap but it'll give 15% lifesteal, some attack speed and physical penetration. Its passive is huge: 25% physical lifesteal for 5 seconds is always good. The Tabi and the Asi will give 30 physical penetration, 39% attack speed, 30 physical power and 18% movement speed. The next items will be a deadly combination: Deathbringer and Rage.
DEATHBRINGER
Cost: 3150 gold (rank 3)
+50 Physical Power
+20% Critical Strike Chance
PASSIVE - Critical strike damage is increased by 50%.
RAGE
Cost: 2755 (rank 3)
+20 Physical Power
+30% Critical Strike Chance
+15% Attack Speed
PASSIVE - If your in hand does not crit, your critical strike chance increases by 5% (max. 10 stacks). Resets on successful crit.
50% critical chance and the critical damage will increase by 50%, too. One out of two shots will crit and if it won't, rage's passive will help give you an additional 5% chance for a maximun of 10 stacks. If the game will is a long one, you should sell your death toll and buy the Executioner.
EXECUTIONER
Cost: 2200 gold
+30 Physical Power
+20% Attack Speed
PASSIVE - Basic attacks against an enemy reduce your target's Physical Protection by 7% and an additional 5 points for 3 seconds (max 3 stacks).
We deal most of our damage hitting basic attacks and the Executioner's passive will reduce the target's Physical Protection by 7% and an additional 5 points for 3 seconds (max 3 stacks) per hit, a perfect combination.
RECAP:
-205 physical power (full stacks);
-74% attack speed (the cap is 2,5, with every hunter we won't overcap with this build);
-50% critical chance;
-15% lifesteal (40% when below 35% of the health)
-30 physical penetration (the cap is 50);
-The critical damage is increase by 50%;
-28% movement speed;
With this build you will deal a lot of damage but you won't have too much defense. This is the negative aspect of a ranged carry: huge damage, low defense. In team fights you will have to stay behind a guardian trying to hit the enemy from a distance. That's all you need to know, I hope you enjoyed my first article, thanks for reading, see you next time with more Smite builds and strategies.
