How to Become King of the Jungle: A Guide Through 5.11's Jungle

No more Elise, Lee Sin, or Kha'zix reigning supreme in the jungle, but a new breed of junglers who are dominating the competitive scene and solo Q. The strengths of these junglers and how to build them through rune pages.

1) Rek'Sai

How to Become King of the Jungle: A Guide Through 5.11's Jungle

Her emergence as the new Queen of the Jungle is no joke as Sejuani slips away towards the icy tundra. Her early aggressive ganks allow her to create advantages for solo laners even if it's burning a summoner spell. There's a reason why she's a highly contested pick in competitive play because of her Tremor Sense while burrowed helps detect if opponents are trying to take a huge objective. In addition, she has a great ultimate to help her get back to battle if she absorb a lot of damage or wants to split push if the team's Top Laner's teleport is down. She has benefited with the flow towards the Cinderhulk meta whereas the Warrior enchantment she fancied has fallen out of flavor. Even though, the new Black Cleaver recipe seems very beneficial for Rek'Sai's stats, she would benefit more from a Locket of Iron Solari(if a lot of Magic Damage) or a Omen's. Rek'Sai looks like to stay since her late 2014 release date, she has made a huge impact in fitting with many compositions that try to snowball a lead.

Runes: 3x Attack Speed Quints, 9x Attack Damage Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 3x Magic Resist Glyphs and 6x Cooldown Reduction.

2) Gragas:

How to Become King of the Jungle: A Guide Through 5.11's Jungle

On the opposite end of the monarchy is League of Legend's very own Henry the IV. Gragas has been such a staple throughout League's tenure that he finally his mark in the jungle. With the help of the combination of his passive and Drunken Rage, Gragas has so much sustainability in order to help clear jungle camps with ease. His kit has so much gank potential that it makes it difficult to anticipate a Flash+Body Slam combo. In addition, Gragas has great teamfight presence with his constant barrels causing displacement in order to create a unfavorable position for his enemies to retreat. The question is whether to max Q or W, since his W helps reduce the damage Gragas takes or take Q which helps slow his opponents down. I believe Gragas should max W because of the amount of items he is going to build which has a lot of base health stats that will make it unbearable for the enemy to finish Gragas off. Gragas has plenty of opportunities in huge skirmishes to peel for his carries, so make sure to do so. It's okay to feel nostaglic, but Gragas isn't a laner anymore unless your Cabochard.

Runes: 3x AP Quints, 9x Attack Speed Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 3x Magic Resist Glyphs and 6x Cooldown Reduction

3) Nidalee:

How to Become King of the Jungle: A Guide Through 5.11's Jungle

She's too quick on the prowl because the feisty feline has moved her way towards the jungle after a short stine at Top Lane, but she did have a prosperous career at mid. Nidalee's reworked kit allows her to use her cougar abilities at level 1. It lets her to clear jungle camps because who doesn't want to hop from camp to camp. In my opinion, I like to play more junglers that are more tank centric in order to peel off my teammates who just go glass cannon. Nidalee is going to be another glass cannon, unless your top laner becomes the unsung hero who builds tank. She provides that extra magic damage if your team needs it. She falls towards the 3rd because like I said traditionally team compositions need tanks to help peel while also in Solo Queue teams tend to not group so you cannot really siege any towers. However, Nidalee's potency lies within her ability to snowball and it lets her skirmish in the enemy jungle once she completes her ability-based jungle item. One could either go Rod of Ages or the Tears >>> Serapahs which increases her mana pool slightly, which allows her to chuck spears at her opponents.

Runes: 3x AP Quints,  9x Attack Damage Marks, 9x Armor Seals, and 9x AP Glyphs

4) Nunu:

How to Become King of the Jungle: A Guide Through 5.11's Jungle

I know a lot of people have Nunu high on their Jungle Tier List, but some players do not know how to play Nunu, even though he's just point and click. Everybody is hopping on the Nunu bandwagon since MSI because he was featured on the global scale, but many Korean and Chinese players have already brought him out. I guess when people see a Nunu demoralize an opponent by 3 buffing them can make Nunu rise to the top. I think Nunu players fall victim on running AP runes when its supposed to be Movement Speed Runes. Besides that, Nunu's ganks are only Ice Blast when any lane is overextending. Before the buffs to dragon, any Nunu can get 2 dragons before 10 minutes, unless you get caught. Nevertheless, a Nunu player must urge their team to play the dragon win condition in order to win the game. Nunu need an early SightStone in order to gain knowledge of the opponents. In addition, the BloodBoil can turn any ADC into a SuperSaiyan and even Azir.

Runes: 3x Movement Speed Quints, 9x Attack Speed Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 3x Magic Resist Glyphs and 6x Cooldown Reduction

5) Sejuani:

How to Become King of the Jungle: A Guide Through 5.11's Jungle

The cycle of Freljord Queens have been finally completed because one cannot dominate without the others being less than dominant. Sejuani's reign has dwindled just as Ashe takes the crown. Sejuani is still strong if one can manage to hit their ults (oops dank meme) and create early pressure with the use of Artic Assault. Sejuani has fallen since the nerfs to her W which helps clear the jungle faster, but Riot wanted to limit her potency since Sejuani was thriving in all facets of the game. As a result, Sejuani's early game has taken a stumble which made the boar rider fallen out of flavor since most pros have looked in Gragas and Rek'Sai taking the #1 and #2 spots. I believe that Sejuani will start to lose her ban relevancy since she isn't as high on the priority list.

Runes: 3x AP Quints, 9x Attack Speed Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 3x Magic Resist Glyphs and 6x Cooldown Reduction

Obviously, there are junglers who are more skilled/experience who want to play damage junglers that can carry such as Master Yi or Kha'zix, but in the end I've seen a lot of them either carry or falter. I think it's better to learn at least 3 out 5 in the list in order to be more comfortable.
