Interview with Teemò, reached Challenger with a laptop trackpad and 10-30FPS

Omar 'Teemò' Yassin is a challenger player who reached the rank by slightly different means. He only plays on a laptop trackpad while averaging about 10-30 FPS. He often plays junglers like Maokai and Yi but also plays a lot of support due to the lack of interest in the role. I had the pleasure of getting to chat with him about climbing the ladder and why he never wants to use a mouse over his laptop trackpad.

 

How did you get into league?

Teemò: In early 2011 I was still playing runescape and my friend told me about league. I tried it out and didn't understand anything. I fed super hard early on and just quit. A few months later I got bored with runescape and tried it again and duo'd with my friend for a while and started having fun even though I sucked. Then I started playing a lot on my own.

When you started in 2011, were you using a laptop trackpad as well?

Teemò: Yes, I've only been using laptops/trackpads since I ever got a laptop in the 5th grade. I've never used a desktop at home.

Did you ever consider getting a mouse?

Teemò: I actually tried it once. I was annoyed by having to scroll the map by moving my mouse to the edge of the screen because I was used to scrolling it with my arrow keys. So I just ended up using it for about the first 10 minutes of 1 game before I threw it out and kept doing what I was doing.

So I take it you never want to use a mouse?

Teemò: Yeah, that's probably it.

What is causing your FPS?

Teemò: My fps can get really bad sometimes because this laptop is 3 years old and I have so much stuff loaded on it. In teamfights I may freeze completely for a few seconds on some occasions.

How is your playstyle affected by it?

Teemò: I dont let it affect me much, I just pray that my character doesn't walk into the enemy team if it happens. I dont change anything for it

Is your champion pool restricted at all because of how you play?

Teemò: No, I like to play everything. I think all champions are easy to play.

Do you think the fact that you were able to hit challenger means that almost anyone can climb the ladder?

Teemò: Yeah anyone can hit challenger if they dedicate enough time to learn and get better.

What do you think holds a lot of people back?

Teemò: They dont play to learn, they just spam games and dont get anything out of it. They aren't trying to get better

Who are your favorite champions and what makes them your favorite?

Teemò: Maokai, Nunu, and Yi. Maokai is hilarious cause you can deep dive, Yi I can always come back on, and Nunu protects his team with wards and op peel.

Do you think it's better to be a one trick pony or a jack of all trades when it comes to climbing in ranked?

Teemò: I think it's better to be a 2 or 3 trick pony, just getting really good at 2-3 champs is all you really need.
