How to play as a ranged champion in ARAM

First and foremost, while playing ARAM, you will need to learn what kind of position you need to be in. For example; if you are a ranged champion, depending on if you are attacking or defending, you will either be at the front of your team, or behind it. An example of this would be a champion like Nidalee, who has an exceptionally long range on her "Q", which is a skill shot. She has a lot of potential to harrass her enemies while they are trying to defend a tower. She is the kind of champion that will duck in and out of the front line to throw one of her nasty javelins at the enemy defenders, while in turn being reasonably safe from harm.

Here is a screenshot, to show you approximately how close you need to be before throwing one of her skill shots. You may need to be even closer if your enemies are hiding behind the tower.

Other champions with skill shots will more likely have to be closer than this to hit their enemy, since their range won't be as long as Nidalee's. Other champions that can skill shot from a similar range would be: Sivir, Caitlin, Varus, Blitzcrank, Thresh, Corki, and a few others.

Tips and Tricks: NEVER face check the bushes on your own, if you do and there just so happens to be a bunch of enemy chanpions in there, you're gunna feel the full force of their wrath. To check a bush, use your skill shots or abilities with illuminating/vision granting effects, such as Lux's Lucent Singularity, Zyra's Rampant Growth, or Cassiopeia's Miasma. Other ways to check, or, in a sense, ward a bush, is to have a champion that can lay traps. Though there are a limited amount of champions that can actually do this, it is very effective in stopping surprise attacks. Thresh's Lantern (Dark Passage) can also check bushes for enemy champions.

As a ranged champion, your escape methods are pretty much non-existant, so try not you get caught out by wandering too far forward, or trying to place an attack on an enemy champion while on low health, because nine times out of ten, you will get punished for it.

When a team fight has started, remember to keep your focus and focus down the champions which will do the most damage, like you would in any other game mode. Stopping them from getting the kills will make your teams life much easier, and chances are you'll snowball through the game without a problem. If you happen to get a lot of kills and do start snowballing, remember that if you get caught out, no matter how strong you are, 1vs5, you will lose and hinder yourself, allowing the other team a bit of time to catch up.

Later on in the game, your ranged skillshots will slowly become less effective against the tankier champions on the opposing team, when this happens, it's time to put your combos into play more often, as you would in a team fight on Summoners Rift.  Allow your tankier champions to initiate and then follow up with with your ranged combos on their damage dealers.

This concludes my little guide on using a ranged champion in ARAM, I hope you enjoyed it and that it makes playing that little bit easier for you.
