How effective is the Muramana?
The Muramana was a brand new item for Season 3 and from its release it became widely used on many mana hungry AD champions including Jayce and Kha’zix. The stats that the Muramana give are incredibly beneficial to any champion that has mana issues or scales largely on attack damage. All summoner’s that play a champion that builds a Muramana all know that the Muramana is a perfect pick but why? and how effective is the Muramana to be picked as a second or third item.
The Muramana is a legendary item and is built via the Manamune. The Muramana has no cost, once you have reached 750 mana on the mana charge the Manamune will transform into the Muramana. This makes the item incredibly gold efficient even without the active toggle and due to the Manamune’s stats gaining 1 attack damage ever 50 mana provides as much damage as a B.F. Sword would at 1250 mana.
Once transformed you get the Muramana with a big difference in stats. On the upgrade your mana is increased by 750 giving you a total bonus of 1000 mana along with the 20 attack damage and 7 mana regeneration per 5 seconds. The Muramana gains the unique passive that was obtained when buying the Manamune and this passive adds 2% mana as attack damage to your base damage so this will now add 20 bonus damage at the minimum onto all of your skills.
The unique toggle, is actually an active which cannot be stacked with other unique active’s similar. This toggle makes a large difference to your gameplay but the damage added isn’t shown on your base damage or your skills damage which can make the items damage underrated.
For example, taking a full build Kha’Zix at level 18 with 2380 mana.
His base attack damage is 363, this is including 48 bonus damage gained from the Muramana’s unique passive. If Kha’zix has maximum mana (2380) and the Muramana’s toggle is active it will take 3% of his current mana, in this case is maximum which is 71.4 and since none of his mana has been consumed the bonus damage will be increased by 100% which will come out to an extra 142.8 rounded up to 143 extra damage onto his basic attacks and spells.
If Kha’zix has consumed his mana leaving him with 1733 he would have consumed 27% of his maximum mana. Due to him consuming 27% the bonus damage he would gain from the Muramana’s toggle has decreased but the concept is still the same. This time we find 3% of his current mana (1733) which is now 52. Now to do the second calculation of the description is to find out the total bonus damage he would gain with 1733 mana, we now take 52 and multiple it by 100% to make 104. Kha’Zix will then gain 104 bonus damage onto his basic attacks and spells.
An example of how much damage Kha’Zix can deal with the Muramana’s toggle would be from his Void Spike. At level 18 and with all six items complete he will have 235 (+232) damage on Void Spikes coming to a total of 467. Furthermore, with the Muramana’s toggle activated and if he had full mana he would gain an extra 143 damage onto his Void Spikes coming to an overall damage output of 610 and this total is not including the activation of his Evolved Spike Racks.
The Muramana is currently suitable for any of these following champions:
-Blitzcrank
-Kha’Zix
-Jayce
-Pantheon
-Ryze
-Urgot
-Yorick
