Rock me like a Hurricane... Just not with Vayne

So there’s this new item added in S3 that some people… aren’t quite sure about. The patch that Runaan’s Hurricane was released in has been out for a while now, and as of lately I’ve seen a lot of Varus and Kog’maw players rush it.
ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT A FARMING ITEM. Farming was not the intention for this item. Sure, maybe you clear a little faster in mid to late game, but if you rush it while in lane still you will miss more CS than you get.
“Unique Passive: Your basic attack fire minor bolts at 2 nearby targets, each deal 10 + 50% of your Attack Damage.”
Stats: 70% Attack Speed
Gold Cost:
-Recurve Bow (950g)
-Dagger (400g)
-Dagger (400g)
-1000g
Total: 2750g
Not made for every ADC:
Yes, yes I know, it is made for a ranged champ. That doesn’t mean it was meant for your champ.
Take for example Vayne. You would be completely ruining her with Runaan’s Hurricane. With it she would never proc her Silver Bolts passive again unless absolutely nothing else was around (but what are the chances of that?). This is only one example of when not to impulse buy.
There has been a special fix that prevents this, but Runaan's is still ont suggested on Vayne.
There are those who do benefit from it:
Varus- Blighted Quiver (W) will work with the Hurricane, due to its passive applying on every basic attack. This means that with each basic attack will deal bonus magic damage on each enemy champion hit. It will also apply Blight for 6 seconds and stack up to 3 times. So you can proc one stack on 3 enemy champs with just one auto attack. Two more attack and all 3 will have a full 3 stacks of Blight on them. (You know, the three purple swirly things that will float around you.)
When Varus uses another ability against the Blighted champs, the debuff will detonate and deal magic damage equal to a percentage of their max health. Causing you some problems in team fights. That’s how he got that penta kill…
Kog’Maw- Bio-Arcane Barrage (W) will still grant him his normal bonus attack range, but the on-hit affect will apply to every target with the Hurricane. The 3 targets will receive bonus magic damage equal to a percentage of their max health. This is not a passive spell like Blighted Quiver for Varus, and must be activated and used in the 8 second time frame.
Ashe- SLOWS FOR EVERYONE. Frost Shot (Q, toggled) will apply to everyone hit. EESH! The Hurricane will cause everyone hit to be slowed. However, she doesn’t get out for free. Each hit will cost 8 mana. That means she will burn an additional 16 mana on top of the initial 8 while trying to slow you down.
Caitlyn- The only reason I say this is because of her passive, Headshot. It charges insanely fast, but will only apply to the single target hit by the charged attack. This means that it could be one of the reduced damage targets receiving the headshot.
Teemo- Just pray he doesn’t get this if he is on the enemy team. It can be deadly… Toxic shot (E) will be applied to every attack. This passive will do bonus magic damage to every attack. In addition to that, everyone will be poisoned and will take additional magic damage for 4 seconds. Luckily this will not stack, but it will be refreshed on the next hit; making toying with you all the more easier.
Twitch- This one can be a little rough. His passive, Deadly Venom, will apply to everyone hit. Each enemy will be poisoned and receive true damage for 6 seconds. This can stack up to 6 times, refreshing the duration and increasing the damage dealt over time. It also interacts with all of this other abilities.
In addition to his passive, his Ulti, Spray and Pray, will benefit from it as well. His auto attack range will increase, and so will the damage dealt by them. Also, basic attacks will then pass through and damage enemies behind the original target and deal a little less damage. These will become skill-shots and can be dodged; however they will still apply Deadly Venom. With Runaan’s Hurricane in action, this can create a barrage of death and destruction.
Miss Fortune- Impure Shots’ passive (W) will apply bonus magic damage and also debuff everyone hit for 5 seconds. This debuff increases damage dealt by future impure shots, and can stack 4 times. When activated, Impure shots will apply grievous wounds, reducing healing and health regen for 3 seconds. Both passive and active will work with the Hurricane.
How some items stack up with it:
Blade of the Ruined King- Its unique passive will work with the Hurricane. Your attacks deal 5% of the target's current health and physical damage.
Frozen Mallet- The unique passive works very well with Runaan’s. Your basic attacks slow your target's Movement Speed by 40% for 1.5 seconds (30% slow for ranged attacks).
Thornmail- More so for the enemy team. When hitting an enemy with Thornmail, you will get 30% of that back as magic damage (before any reductions.) So if a team stacks Thornmail against you, it might be a better idea going a different route.
The Black Cleaver- The passive on Black Cleaver will stack against all surrounding enemies that you hit. Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion reduces their armor by 5% for 4 seconds. This effect stacks up to 5 times.
Statikk Shiv- Charging with Runaan’s Hurricane procs Shiv’s passive nearly 3 times as fast. You can get 30 (out of 100) charges off of one auto attack, and goes well with the attack speed offered from both. This would be the only benefit from the Statikk Shiv, because the charged attack will already deal 100 magic damage to 4 targets.
Hextech Gunblade- The unique passive Reload will be the only thing benefiting from this. Your basic attacks and single target spells against champions reduce the cooldown of this item by 3 seconds.
General:
-Life steal will always work with the Hurricane.
-Anything charged from basic attacks will work.
-Most on-hit effects will benefit from it.
-RANGED ONLY: If you are using a shape-shifting champ such a Quinn (technically), the orb will disappear and no longer work in melee form. It will return once you return to your ranged form.
-You can still be affected from blinds.
-'On Next Attacks' will be applied to the primary target.
In the long run, the AD champs will sacrifice single-target attacks for multi-targets. It is by all means situation and dependent on team comp. I suggest trying it out and seeing how it works for you, but just don’t plan to use it for farming early game. Team fights are where this item shines.
Have any champs or items you feel Runaan’s goes well with? Be sure to leave a comment and let me know.
