5 Advanced Tips for Supports that help win the lane

Here is a list of 5 tips that are not used enough in game by supports. These will help improve your Support role, and also help you win your lane. Using any of these tips will help ensure a fed AD Carry and a victory on Summoner's rift.

1. Communicate Summoner Spell Timers.
Communicating about your spell timers is a very important thing to do when you are deciding to engage bottom lane. Fighting with you spells up will give you an extra advantage over the other duo. Make sure you tell your AD Carry when your Flash and Exhaust are up. Countless times I have seen AD Carries engage when the Support has no spells, this is an easy fix. Time intervals (1 min, 30 sec, 10 sec) will allow your AD Carry to prepare himself. Advanced Supports have timers on both opponents' spells, allowing them to pick the perfect times to engage.

2. Gold per 10 Runes
Admit it everyone. Supports are poor people. Since you are not swimming in money anytime soon, you need GP10 runes. Let’s look at a support page:

You can see the two places to run  GP10 runes in a page. Gold per 5 quintessences and seals give you 5 extra gold every 10 seconds. This is HUGE for someone who is not getting creep gold and allows you to get your essential items faster.

 

3. Early Pink Wards

The impact that a pink ward can have is immense. Pink Wards clear vision of a bush or area for 3 minutes (unless oracles or other pink wards ruin the fun). Carrying a pink ward early game can block vision of key areas. Pink ward dragon, river, or either bottom lane bush, and keep the bot lane clueless. Warding river allows early opportunities for ganks for your jungle. AD carries will played scared with no vision, allowing your AD to get an early cs lead.

4. River Awareness
Just because you have a ward in river, does not mean the Jungler will not force a gank. Your job is to watch the river for your AD Carry. He might be focused in on creeps, and may not see the enemy jungler coming in. Good river awareness will save you 9 times out of 10 from jungler ganks or roaming mids. Fast pings can save you from the hardest of ganks.

5. Positive Attitudes win games
We have all seen those facts in the loading screen, but most tend to ignore them. But those are actual facts and anything to you can do to increase your chances of winning is worth it. Positive attitudes can really change a game. Think about it. They have made a mistake, but yelling at them won't change anything, but if you encourage them, you can win when you are behind and your chances of winning increase greatly. It also makes the game more enjoyable as well.
