A look at Preseason Patch 1

I picked up the new patch recently, and to be honest I love it. It looks nice and feels good. A change, a change I feel was needed in the league. It has the potential to be great. But what I love more is the new builds, I love how everyone is trying out new things coming up with their own “style” it’s so intriguing. Anyways I feel I have to discuss what riot seems to have broken.

The Champions
Well let’s start this off with what we all never expected. I feel like Teemo (oh god no) is incredibly strong and I think there is a certain streamer who will not like what is coming *cough* TRM *cough*, but yes pbe announced a nerf to his AP ratios. Teemo at the moment is an extremely strong champion because of the additions of the new items, and just to the fact that he can use just about all of them well.

Another champion who has been revived seems to be Talon. The TSM AD carry expressed his thoughts on the champion as “Broken, play him for free elo”. What you have to do on talon to make him strong, is take advantage of the new armor penetration. Black Cleaver – Brutalizer – last whisper (due to black cleaver moving the Brutalizer passive into its base stats you can stack) seems to be the winning build? I tested the build myself on lee sin and I have to admit it was putting out a lot of damage.

Ryze. Yep he’s super strong. I have watched Curse player NYJacky play this champ on PBE and he dominated with him. The items that Ryze can use now are insane. What I have noticed is that not so many people have been playing him, but NYJacky has been stomping with it. He builds Liandry’s Torment a lot on this champ which is an extremely strong item. Especially for ryze who spams all his spells at once while they are movement impaired.

Twitch & Vayne. I shouldn’t really have to explain this. The sword of divine and armor Penetration items from earlier are needed for these champs. This will get you a kill more or less instantly. The sword of divine puts your attack speed and critical hit chance on 100% for 3 seconds or 3 critical strikes. This is extremely strong. If you get condemned into a wall, you’re dead, that’s a fact: the armor pen and attack speed will shred you.

Twitch, well let’s just say he can shred a team down in those 3 seconds. With those items and twitch’s ultimate it will rip through teams in the big fights. There is one guy who has a deadly twitch and that is Team Fear’s ADC Aphromoo and I would love to see him running this.

Not so much OP but really fun and have a lot more to do in solo queue are supports. This latest patch has been extremely generous to the support player. I actually see people wanting to play the role to test out the new items. There are so many new items which they can build, this just makes it even more fun for when you get that all dreaded last pick and forced to play the support role. With it being the Meta of aggressive supports its being an extremely fast paced game in the bottom lane now.

Broken Items

Sight Stone – This is crazy good for everyone in the game. Who doesn’t need health? Who doesn’t want wards? Exactly. Champions like lee sin and Katarina you're getting 5 free jumps anywhere due to it replacing the wards you used when you reach your limit of 2/3 depending if you upgraded it or not. I don’t know what riot can do to change this, maybe remove the health? Removing unimportant wards for one needed at the time is insane and saves on so much gold.

Sword of the Devine – Discussed earlier, this item increases killing potential 1v1 to about 90% it is an incredible item with a cool down of only 60 seconds if you are not running the mastery. All you need to do after the kill is back and buy, go back to lane and it will be ready.

Black Cleaver – you can stack this monster. It has no unique passive as it moved the Brutalizer passive into its base stats. You can now get 4 cleavers and in 1 attack you can have max the stack. This is outrageous on anyone like pantheon and talon. This item is truly truly broken.

Muramana - this item can be stacked 4 times with archangels and that’s a lot of mana. Using that item is so strong that a champion such as ryze, who’s damage scales off mana, can potentially kill anyone. It is such a strong item, I just think it has some sort of big nerf coming or making the mana a unique passive to the item.

There are a lot of really strong items in the new patch and I guarantee that there are so many unfound or hidden OP’s. Well from everyone I have spoken to about this, they all agree that a lot of this is really strong now and that if you want “free elo” you should try running them. But remember have fun doing it!
