Jungle invasions are no longer a strategy found only in tournament play. Players in solo queue have begun to adapt strategies which capitalize on weaker junglers during the first few minutes of the game. However there is usually just as much risk as there is reward. Junglers such as Amumu excel greatly in team fights, but have a fairly rocky start if they lose control of their first few clears within the jungle. What jungle invasions typically come down to is how willing the lane's from both teams are to come and assist there own jungler. Other factors come into play as well though.

Midlane Specifics:
As a mid laner, the easiest way to bring yourself to assist your own jungle is simply by pushing your lane early. If the jungler you're invading is a fairly slow start jungler, he won't prioritize ganking you, before he wants to finish his first clear, which is when the early jungle invasion usually takes place. By pushing the lane, you force the enemy mid lane to make the decision to immediately respond to your movement into their jungler at the loss of the cs and experience now under the tower. Otherwise they wait until they soak up most of the cs and xp, before moving. Even the slightest hesitation made by this forced play which you sprouted upon them can allow your team's invasion to be incredibly more successful.

Without further ado, the video provided below, will go into more depth on a specific situation explaining to you the keys to a succesful jungle invasion as a mid laner.
