30 Seconds to a New Free Champion Rotation
This weeks free champions (by role)
Mid lane AP
Galio
Galio is a bit of a strange AP as he benefits from MR making him an amazing counter AP farmer and overall great team addition. Galio excels against burst AP champions as they can't kill him and never has a problem farming because with a no brainer first item in Chalice he never runs out of mana. Galio's main abilities for farm and damage are resloute smite and righteous gust, they can clear waves really fast and take significant chunks out of enemy champions. Galio's ult is Idol of Durand and is an AoE taunt that does damage at the end of the channel, therefore making a perfect flash more or less win a teamfight.

Skilling
R -> Q -> W -> E
R is a teamfight winner if you taunt the enemy carries. using W keeps you nice and healthy as well as buffing armor/mr for whoever is lucky enough to get it. Q and E are the damage dealers.
Itemization
Boots and 3 pots starting
Next grab Chalice and Catalyst
At this point boots 2 is great and you should choose between Sorc shoes or Merc Treads depending on the enemy CC
Now you can finish catalyst into either RoA or Banshees depending on how survivable you feel you need to be
At this point work towards grabbing a deathcap
You can finish Chalice into Athene's whenever you feel you can or you can sell it to get both Abyssal and Void
Round out the build with an Abyssal Scepter or Void staff and finally Guardian Angel
Karthus
Karth is one of the go to AP champions people love because of his good poke, amazing AoE and fantastic kill securing ultimate. Use Q to farm and poke, keep in mind it does double damage if it hits a single target. Once you have a few ranks in defile and one in wall you can pretty much Q all day and use wall to land harass/force summoners/help ganks. Remember that Karthus scales really hard into late game and will pretty much melt a team with defile if positioned well. Farm hard, use ult to secure kills/assist in ganks/force enemies to back off of objectives. Also know that wall can be used for vision so you dont facecheck the enemy team.
Summoners
Flash and Ignite
Runes and Masteries
Masteries are a simple 21/0/9, standard AP damage output and mana regen
Magic Pen Marks
Ability power per level Glyphs and Seals
Quints are between Movespeed, Ability power and Magic pen
Skilling
Skilling for Karth is rather simple, get a point in wall pre 6, other than that
R -> Q -> E -> W
*never ult while alive unless you are guaranteed to not be interupted or killed as this will cancel the channel and put ult on cooldown
Itemization
Karthus scales off items like crazy,
Start with boots and pots
*You can grab doran's rings if you need the HP/Mana but blue should be your
Work towards catalyst -> RoA and grab sorc shoes
Grab a hextech if you feel you need the sustain otherwise grab deathcap asap
Go for a Void Staff and Zhonyas, order based on enemies resists and your survival
Finish Will of the Ancients and melt people while gaining insane health per defile tick
Top Laners
Irelia
Irelia has always been a great top lane and she has continued to be even with significant changes to her kit. Irelia scales really well into late game and her true damage makes her extra deadly with attackspeed. She should be built tanky so she can dive onto carries and disrupt the team in general. Q resets on a killing blow and gives back mana so it can be used to farm as well as jump around to avoid harass/ganks. Use W and R to stay healthy and deal some pretty hefty damage to anyone unlucky enough to be your target.
Summoners
Flash and Ignite
Runes and Masteries
Masteries are a bit odd at 9/21/0 or 9/14/7. 9/14/7 is great as you go into damage/attackspeed in offense, health, armor and regen in defense and mana/mana regen in utility.
Attack Speed marks
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs
Attack Damage or Attackspeed Quints
Skilling
Skilling Irelia is pretty much a no brainer, grab sustain and true damage asap and worry about Q and E later. As always take a point in Q and E early to have them usable.
R -> W -> E/Q
Itemization
Start with Boots and 3 Pots
Grab a Philo stone and heart of gold to gain extra gold while farming
Finish boots into Merc Treds
work towards a Trinity force (phage -> sheen -> zeal)
next get wits end and wardens mail
Finish Randuins and grab Guardian Angel
The last item is free based on what you need. Suggestions are Force of Nature, Warmogs, Frozen heart, Bloodthirster and Bloodrazers
Kayle
Kayle is an amazing champion that is very underrated in terms of the current meta. Dyrus pulled kayle back into the limelight but she has faded out again. Kayle's greatness comes from her passive which shreds resists by a stacking %. Beyond that she brings amazing utility from her bubble that grants temporary invinciblity and her heal that grants great movespeed. Play kayle much like you would play an AD carry by being careful and poking from the back with righteous fury on. Use Q to catch out of place carries and bubble to prevent burst damage as saving a low health person is great but not so much if they die the second the bubble ends.
Summoners
Flash and Ignite
Runes and Masteries
Masteries are your basic AD masteries at 21/9/0
Attack Damage Marks and Quints
Magic Resist Glyphs
Armor Seals
Skilling
You will want to focus on damage output with Kayle as her heal costs a lot of mana and doesn't heal for a lot.
R -> E -> Q -> W
Itemization
Start with boots and pots
grab 2 dorans blades
Turn boots into Berserkers Greaves
Grab a vamp scepter if needed otherwise grab an Infinity Edge
At this point get either Guardian Angel or Phantom Dancer
Then grab whichever you didn't get first
If you need the survival and cleanse grab Quicksilver Sash otherwise finish bloodthirster then QSS
*Optional item choice: Black Cleaver. BC is great on kayle with the passive synergy, don't count it out.
Junglers
Xin Zhao
After the recent change to Xin, he is a beastly champion. He can be taken top but a lot of people favor him in the jungle. Q is a great damage tool and the knockup is decent CC. W is now the passive health on 3rd hit generator with an active attack speed buff. E is still dash and slow and R now knocks back everyone except for the target marked by your passive. Oh yeah, that passive that gives 15% armor pen, which is just downright amazing. Basic combo is to E in and land an auto, then pop Q and W, use R for damage to the target or to split the target from teammates/knock back enemies into really bad positions.
Summoners
Smite and Flash
Runes and Masteries
19/11/0. Great set of masteries that give a good amount of damage, ArPen and attack speed as well as good tankiness and health from the defensive tree.
Either Attack Speed or ArPen Marks (or a mix of both)
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs
Attack Damage Quints
Skilling
Skilling Xin can be a bit odd but this general rule applies:
R -> Q -> W -> E
Ulti is awesome, Q is great damage, W is good sustain/dps and E is a good initiation/chase tool. Take a point in E early for the utility.
Itemization
There are two routes that Xin players take, we are going tanky as it is far more safe
Start boots and pots
Clear Jungle and gank top or mid, work towards Wriggles Lantern
continue clearing and ganking when you can, use wriggles ward to control dragon or river brush for lanes
Grab a heart of gold for the passive gp10 and health, as well as brutalizer
Get a phage and wits end to make you nice and healthy with some resists and DPS
Turn brutalizer into Yoummuus Ghostblade
At this point either finish Frozen Mallet and Randuins in whatever order you feel is best
Round out the build with either a Maw of Malmortius OR Black Cleaver
Master Yi
While Yi isn't the most popular jungler, he certainly can be one of the most deadly. Playing Yi is a dangerous game as he can either snowball like crazy or end up getting toasted like a marshmallow. Q gives you really good clear potential if the extra damage procs a lot. W is amazing sustain even without any AP and E gives a great damage boots early on. R is the super saiyan mode button that gives you crazy move speed and dps with the potential to reset cooldowns.
Summoners
Smite and Exhaust
Runes and Masteries
Masteries are a rather simple 21/9/0 focusing mainly on maximizing damage output
Attack Speed Marks
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs
Attack Damage Quints
Skilling
Take a point in E first (wuju style) and then follow this priority (with a point in mediate at either 4 or 10
R -> Q -> E ->w
Itemization
Start with either Cloth armor and pots or Vamp Scepter
Work towards Wriggles, Phage and Zeal. This will give good sustain, clear, chance to slow and a nice dps boost
Choose between Berserkers Greaves or Merc Treads
Then Finish Frozen Mallet and Phantom Dancer
Choose Two of the following
Damage: Infinity Edge, Last Whisper (vs Heavy Armor)
Survival: Atmas (vs AD), Banshee's Veil (vs Bursty AP), Quicksilver Sash (vs AP with lots of CC)
*When at full build you can sell Wriggles for a Bloodthirster
Bottom Lane AD
Urgot
Personally I think bot lane Urgot is ridiculous and would rather pick a proper AD than this jerk, needless to say it is a proven strategy. Use E to mark targets and Q to poke them out of lane, W is a nice damage negation tool and while it is active basic attacks and Q's slow on hit. R is good for catching someone out or forcing an enemy carry to die. Basically land E and Q enemies out while farming.
Summoners
Flash and Heal or Exhaust
Runes and Masteries
21/0/9 is dangerous, 9/21/0 is less damage but more survival
Armor Pen Marks and Quints
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs
Skilling
E and Q are bread and butter, priority is
R -> Q -> E -> W
Itemization
start with boots and pots
double dorans blades then brutalizer
grab a Glacial shroud
Finish boots into Merc Treads
Grab Maw of Malmortius then finish Frozen Heart
Get a Bloodthirster and Guardian Angel
Sell Brutalizer for Last Whisper
Champiosns with Multiple Roles or that don't really fit one role in particuar
Teemo
Teemo is a bit of an odd champion as he can go top, mid or support pretty effectively. Q is a general counter to any auto attacking AD and the passive damage from E is rather nasty. W allows Teemo to be very quick so he can poke and run. Ulti are mushrooms that are basically free wards that blow up for significant damage. Use mushrooms to block entrances/exits as early warning or kill securing explosives. Q and auto to poke while farming with autos. W allows you to move really fast so you can roam/ward if you feel safe enough/know where enemies are.
Summoners
Generally Flash and Ignite are decent on kill Teemo, exhaust and flash on support Teemo.
Runes and Masteries
AP/On hit Teemo is 21/0/9
While support Teemo is 9/0/21
Magic Pen Marks
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs
Ability Power Quints
Skilling
Mushrooms are amazing explosive wards, beyond that blinding is a good nuke that counters auto attackers and E has significant upfront and tick damage.
R -> Q -> E -> W
Itemization
AP Teemo -> Sorc Shoes, Nashors, Deathcap, Zhonyas, Void Staff, Free (suggested WoTA)
On Hit -> Berserkers Greaves, Malady, Wits end, Frozen Mallet, Guardian Angel, Free (Bloodthirster, Ionic Spark, Bloodrazers)
Support -> Ionian Boots, Philo stone, Heart of Gold, Wards. Aim for Shurelias, Locket, then pretty much whatever you want. (Frozen Heart, Zekes, Black Cleaver, Frozen Mallet, Bloodrazers, etc)
Sion
Sion is one of those odd champions with an odd skillset that doesn't really excell anywhere but can do reasonably well in top/middle/jungle.
Sion can be built two successful ways, bruiser and AP. AP falls off late game but bruiser does reasonably well the whole game. Sion's passive allows him to ignore some incoming damage while he can also throw a stun and shield up. He has a passive damage bonus from E and his ult is an attackspeed and lifesteal buff. Overall he is pretty odd
Summoners
Flash and Ignite, AD could use exhaust too
Runes and Masteries
Masteries are 21/0/9 for AP
9/21/0 for Bruiser
Runes AP
Magic Pen Marks
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs

Runes AD

For AD

Itemization
AP: Boots of Mobility, Deathcap, Lich Bane, Deathfire Grasp, Void Staff, Zhonyas Hourglass
AD: Merc Treads, Phantom Dancer, Infinity Edge, Choose 3 from below
Damage: Yoummuus, Black Cleaver, Maw of Malmortius, Last Whisper
Survival: Atmas, Warmogs, Force of Nature, Frozen Heart, Guardian Angel
Malphite
Malphite is another oddity that can do very well top or jungle. Malphite is an excellent anti-AD who brings great initiation and tankiness to the table. His wave clear leaves something to be desired but his passive allows him to tank waves and never miss CS while he has no friendly creeps. Q is good poke and W is amazing defense, E is a good damage/debuffing tool and of course R is fantastic initiation.
Summoners
Ignite and Flash
Runes and Masteries
0/21/9 Amazing defense with mana regen
Magic Pen Marks
Armor Seals
Magic Resist Glyphs
Movespeed or AP Quints
Skilling
If you are in lane the focus is mainly on Q and E, while jungle Malphite takes advantage of W as well with main focus on E.
R -> Q/E -> W (W is best late game when it has more to scale on)
Itemization
Malphite can be build a variety of ways here is a common cookie cutter to use
Laning: Sorc Shoes, Sunfire Cape, Abyssal Scepter, Frozen Heart, Randuins Omen, Guardian Angel
Jungling: Start Cloth and Pots and get philo and heart of gold ASAP, then Frozen Heart and Randuins. Then pick 3 from below
Armor: Sunfire Cape, Guardian Angel
Magic Resist: Abyssal, Force of Nature, Banshee's Veil
