Thoughts and Analysis: Syndra, Is she buy-worthy?

In theory, Syndra is a burst-oriented Ability power carry with heavy zoning capabilities through her spammable Dark Sphere ability. However, in my experiences, she is one of those champions you desperately want to do well with, but fall short due to her limitations. I find her mana costs are too high, and there are champions that do her job better, safer, and more reliably. I'm not really sure of what 'immense power' she's talking about, so why pick her?

The Pros to picking Syndra:

- When facing an opponent in mid lane with short to medium range, Syndra can zone her opponent easily and effectively with a simple W+Q combo.

- Her lategame burst is extremely high with DFG.

- As many professional players have stated, because of all of her limitations, she is bound to get buffed, so now is a good time to learn her!

The Cons to picking Syndra:

- As of right now, other than to learn her, there is absolutely no reason to pick Syndra. Want burst? Pick Zyra or Katarina. Want utility? Pick Orianna. My point is, for every role a mid lane champion can fill, there is a champion better than Syndra.

- Syndra's mana costs are stupidly high. The cost to damage ratio on her Dark Spheres isn't right, and compared to other champions, she has one of the lowest overall AP ratios in the game.

- Her kit is fun, but together is very incoherent. The long range on Q coupled with extremely short range on her ultimate, and a clunky stun mechanic, make for a frustrating experience.

My Final Verdict

Overall Syndra is a fun champion but her kit is a bit weird. Her stun mechanic is hard to hit, her grab feels clunky and her mana costs make you never want to cast a Dark Sphere. Sure, with a bit more practice she'll probably be a bit better but she simply requires too much effort to be effective at something other champions do much more effectively.

I guarantee she is going to be seeing some love from Riot, as right now she just doesn't feel very rewarding. So if you want a fun champion to add to your arsenal, you'd do well to pick her up, however, don't expect to do extremely well with her right now.
