During a League of Legends match, each player is given a role. Commonly known roles are:
- Ability Power carry: this normally focuses on big magic burst damage.
- Attack damage ranged carry: this role focuses on farming throughout the game and attempting to carry the game close to the end.
- Support: This role ‘babysits’ the carry roles and protects them throughout the match.

All these roles are important to winning a match. However there is one overlooked role that can be critical to winning; known as the Disruptor.

(Blitzcrank)

Disruptors are champions with abilities tailored towards disrupting and shutting down enemies. The disruptor is the master of stopping the enemy doing whatever they want. A good example of a disruptor designed champion is Blitzcrank. Having the abilities to pull, knock-up and silence enemies, makes Blitzcrank an ideal pick for any team line-up for many reasons:

- The ability to pull forces enemies into bad positioning and can take advantage of someone whom is already in a bad position.
- The ability to knock-up he prevents enemies from doing anything for a limited time; this ensures that they cannot lifesteal or flee from battle.
- The ability to silence enemies prevents champions, such as; Graves, Tristana, Corki and Ezreal from using their escape abilities or summoner spells.

However, Blitzcrank does have setbacks, namely that he is not designed to fight and lacks effectiveness while his abilities are on cooldown, thus leading to his character being a complete support and disruptor. Focusing on empowering his team during teamfights, this is how a true disruptor works, making it so the enemy is unable to achieve their maximum potential.

The goal of the disruptor is to impede the largest source of damage to your team. For instance if an enemy Veigar is aiming to one-shot your carry stun and silence him before he can complete his combo or perhaps an enemy Ashe is dealing 500 damage per shot, using Blitzcrank’s grab ability can pull her into the middle of your team to secure the kill. Disrupting another disruptor, a tank or support, isn’t effective as these champions are there to support their carry. Doing this will mean the mages and carries have to fight it out themselves and you don’t want to put them in that situation.

Here is an example for you, You are playing Alistar and the enemy Leona just jumped onto you and then stunned you. In return you use your ultimate to ensure your survival then walk around her and knock-up the enemy carry then push him into your team. In those few seconds the difference between your actions and the enemy Leona’s made certain that your carry was dealing damage the whole time while the enemy carry was not.

The following video will show and discuss disrupting and focusing. If you have any comments or feedback, just drop it in the comment section below.
