Top 5 Bot Lane Partnerships

In the current meta, the bot lane is the only lane in which you’ll have two members of your team designated to and because of this, it’s the most important lane in the game to make sure it doesn’t fail.
Why? Because what currently makes up a bot lane is your AD Carry and your Support and while the Support can get by without cs and live off gold items, masteries and runes, the AD Carry is reliant upon cs in order to get the items they need to snowball into the late game and if your bot lane fails, that means their bot lane us succeeding and is likely to snowball you.
With that said, what bot lane partnerships are currently the best to use in order to maximise carry potential and also, what are the best lanes to not fail with. Let’s jump into it.
5 – Corki and Leona
These two go well together for a variety of reasons and while they lack sustain, they make for a scary aggressive lane combo that can easily transfer over into teamfights to carry the game.
Everything Corki could wish for, he has in Leona. Her chain CC can immobilise a target for nearly 3 seconds while she gains bonus armour to let her have no fear of diving on people and her passive let’s Corki deal additional magic damage with his Q or his Ult.
The target not being able to move for almost three seconds lets Corki get off his burst and with his high DPS already, thanks to armour shredding from his E and his passive dealing 10% true damage, a combo from Leona can let Corki mercilessly ruin their targets.
Things only get better in teamfights, with the CC from Leona being great for the team and Corki’s AOE damage, however, with the lack of sustain is what holds back this partnership from being any higher on this list.
4 – Kog’Maw and Sona
This partnership has boomed recently thanks to some play from Moscow 5’s bot lane duo Eugene ‘Genja’ Andryushin and Edward ‘GoSu Pepper’ Abgarian, with both players showing what a menacing combo this can be.
Some of Kog’Maw’s biggest difficulties in lane are that he has a lack of reliable escapes and he’s fairly squishy but he also has some of the best ability to exchange because of his ability to melt armour and boost his range. Kog’Maw’s is an amazing hypercarry, who can almost singlehandedly lead a team to victoy when he gets all his items.
The most well-known partner for Kog’Maw is Nunu but with his recent buffs, he’s restored himself into the jungle and I feel Sona gives Kog’Maw so much more than Nunu.
With her auras, she gives Kog’Maw bonus attack damage, ability power, movement speed, armour and magic resist and with power chord she offers a slow and attack damage debuff on enemies. Her Ultimate as well is great for both offensive and defensive purposes. They work amazingly well in a poke comp but they can just as easily be harassed themselves and most people don’t have Sona perfected like GoSu Pepper does so Kog’Maw could find some of his cs going missing.
3 – Anyone and Soraka
When you look through all those considered traditional supports, Soraka is the one who stands out above the others as her kit lends itself fully to supporting her team in one way or another.
With a magic resistance buff for her passive, two heals (one of them being global), another ability that either restores mana or silences enemies and her Starcall (Q) shreds magic resist off her opponents, let’s her handle a lot throughout the game.
She’s not without negatives though, due to her squishiness and lack of crowd control, Soraka Is inherently passive so you’ll want to be freezing the lane close to your tower and warding any entrances to your lane and avoid being aggressive for the most part.
Soraka is an amazing support though because she can hold your carries hand through lane and provided they can last hit well, she’ll take it over to teamfights where she’ll be able to spam heals to keep the team alive and let that cs fed carry clean up the enemy team. The recent nerfs hurt her though and her usage has taken a bit of a hit (she’s fallen from around 38-39% to 26%) because of that but don’t be fooled, Soraka is still one of the top supports out there and a great pick.

"Beep Boop pull the carry"
2 – Ezreal and Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank is not only one of the most fun champions to play; he’s also really powerful with great, chainable crowd control, Blitzcrank offers the best chance of killing the enemy in lane.
As for Ezreal, he has three skillshots in his arsenal and an attack speed buff in his passive comes off those abilities so he needs the target to stay as stationary as possible for as long as possible and with Blitzcrank’s Q pulling targets to him and his E knocking them up, Ezreal can easily fire off his two skillshots to hit the enemy and then continue to kite the enemy and re-position himself with his E.
I almost made this one ‘Anyone and Blitzcrank’ and while there are some that are considered better, I feel as if Blitzcrank and Ezreal works best because Blitzcrank’s chain CC helps Ezreal get easy skillshots off and as such increase his attack speed, which helps him destroy the pulled enemy faster.
This lane works well for the reason that it helps Ezreal get ahead and when Ezreal gets ahead, he becomes a terror who can spam a hard hitting skillshot and constantly kite around people with his Arcane Shift, letting him carry. Blitzcrank is just a strong aggressive support in general but he benefits Ezreal a whole lot.
1 – Graves and Taric
Not only are these two the most popular bot lane combination at the moment, they’re also the top two champions played in the game altogether with Taric number one and Graves second and it comes down to how well they play off of each other, especially at level 6.
A combination of Taric’s abilities will grant bonus attack damage (and ability power) to himself and Graves, while dropping his opponents armour for 4 seconds and leaves them stunned for 1.5 seconds, making them a sitting duck for Graves’ combo of Collateral Damage (R) and Buckshot (Q).
To quote Phreak it does tons of damage and it does it almost instantly, leaving them either dead or scrambling to get to turret but even then, if you don’t kill them with that combo, Graves has a slow as well as a gap closer which will let him catch up and finish the job.
It’s not perfect as Soraka and Sona can counter the armour drop with their heals, plus Soraka’s silence, but in the right hands this is a comp that’s deadly and potent and it speak volumes that these two are played in 40% of all ranked games on the NA, EU-W and EU-NE servers.
