Interview with GBM on their matchup against CLG: "Please, CLG, pick Yasuo."

There's only one week left in the battle for playoff contention in the NA LCS. After picking up a solid victory against Team Liquid, Robert "Roscoe" Wery talked with the NRG’s Lee "GBM" Chang-suk to see how he feels about his team's standing as the split wraps up.

Hey guys, Roscoe here with GBM just after they've defeated Liquid. How does it feel, man? That was a good win.

GBM: Yeah, right now I feel really good. Yesterday I fed, but we're improving. We're improving now too, and we will be better in communication. Post-season, we can get a number one.

 

Yeah, positioning for playoffs, right? In the next week you guys face CLG and TSM. That will be tough. But of course, TL beat CLG yesterday, so by that, you're better than CLG!

GBM: Yeah, haha, CLG < Team Liquid < NRG!

I love the Batman tie, man. Are you a big fan of Batman?

GBM: I like Batman and I like this bowtie. I said I liked Batman in stream and fans gifted it to me. This bowtie is cool.

Very cool! Are you going to see the new movie, the Batman vs. Superman?

GBM: Oh yes, I want to see it. I'm so excited.

Alright, I wanted to talk about your Zed pick in this game. It's pretty uncommon pick, it's rare. You like to pick it up against Corki, so was it just to get Corki or?

GBM: This week and last week I practiced only Zed. I just kept playing him and saw he's not bad. Like, the tank Zed is a giant and has a really good team fight. He's great versus AP since the AP's are so weak right now. I just have to go with Hexdrinker and I can win against any AP.

Yeah, you went Hexdrinker into Maw, Sterak's Gage, Dead Man's Plate and Titanic Hydra. Do you think that Zed has enough power to kill without having to go with Youmuu's or Black Cleaver?

GBM: The tank item build is enough. If you go with Blade of the Ruined King or Youmuu's, Zed's body is so weak, I just get one-shot and die. Life is damage, if I can stay alive, I can deal more damage. I just want to focus on being alive and the tank build.

You can bother them a lot more, over and over again. You mentioned that Ability Power is weak now and Riot is trying to do a major mage updates. Do you have any opinions on what they might change and how will they do that?

GBM: I just really want to change the AP items. Zhonya's is so expensive, Deathcap is so expensive, and they are so low AP. AP tank is just better right now. Zhonya's is pretty good but it's not for snowballing, it's only if you want to survive against an assassin. But, if you go with Hexdrinker and Maw of Malmortius, you're like "Aah, I want to kill you!"

It should be interesting to see how they change that. Speaking of new things, what are your thoughts on Aurelion Sol? Have you seen him, have you played him yet?

GBM: No, I hadn't had a chance to look at him yet.

He's quite interesting, you can play him as a support, and some people are even trying to jungle him too. He's supposed to be a mid laner.

GBM:  Oh, really? Oh my God, I don't think so, there's no CC! And maybe not even the wave clear.

He does have a bit of a stun, kind of like Anivia's Q.

GBM: Yeah, but, if you just gank mid and his Flash is down, he's down really fast.

So, you guys have CLG and TSM next week and it's the last weekend before we get into the post-season. What do you guys think are the biggest obstacles for you to get into the playoffs?

GBM: First things first, we need more practice and we need team bonding. Like escape room, spa or water park. Well, on the last round, we beat TSM, it was a perfect game, I remember. I can do one more." Careful, Bjergsen! Haha, I'll beat you! If CLG plays Yasuo again next week, it's a good thing for us. Please, CLG, pick Yasuo.
