Interview with WildTurtle: "Every week you can definitely improve on something"
Immortals has proven their ownership of the top spot in the NA LCS and Jason 'WildTurtle' Tran has been instrumental in their wins. Roscoe sat down with him after week 5 to talk Sneaky's Jhin pick, Immortals' success behidn the scenes and what they can improve on in the second half of the split.
You guys have been extremely successful so far this split, how has it been for you guys?
WildTurtle: I guess it feels really good to go 10-0, I don't know if it was expected but I think we were playing very well, and we were confident in every match we were playing.
I wanted to talk about picks/bans for this last game, against Cloud 9. They banned out Soraka, Lulu and Janna, to try and shut down the power of Adrian in that botlane, so you just decided to go with Braum instead. Was that no problem?
WildTurtle: I don't think we have a problem with trying to ban out Adrian, especially when we get that Kalista. Kalista just changes a lot about a support player, Adrian can play as aggressive as he wants and I can always pull him out if he makes a mistake. I just think Adrian plays well on anything, so props to him I guess.

And they left the Kalista open intentionally so they could get the Jhin: did you guys expect the Jhin pick or was that somewhat of a twist?
WildTurtle: That was definitely a twist but we definitely felt like they gave us Kalista, and we decided to do it anyway because we are pretty confident in our Kalista, and the game went pretty well for us.
What do you guys attribute the success to, looking back at these ten matches you have played?
WildTurtle: I would attribute it to our coaching staff and our living conditions. I think everything about our team is in an environment that helps us improve all the time, so I think our environment is what makes these players great right now.
Because you've got these teams that are doing a lot more behind-the-scenes, all these different facets with the team, especially health and working out. Are you guys doing that too?
WildTurtle: Yeah I heard we were doing a lot of stuff, I gained eight pounds since the Spring Split so yeah. I hope it's all muscle mass.
Looking at the LCS leaderboards, it's you, Reignover and Adrian at the top in KDA: who do you personally consider a rival?
WildTurtle: Honestly, I don't have rivals, I just want to play the best I can. Before, I used to care too much about other AD Carries and how they played, but now I just focus on my own play and I think it's been going a lot better. I do feel like I'm playing against a faceless opponent, just the champion and not the player.
Going undefeated into next week, do you guys still see a lot of mistakes in your play? Do you try and fix them from week to week?
WildTurtle: There's definitely no perfection, and every week you can definitely improve on something. I always have something to improve on, and I think everyone on the team always has something to improve on, so we're always going to keep getting better.
Was there anything specifically from this week's games against Team Dignitas and Cloud 9 that you think you - or the team - could improve on?
WildTurtle: The team could improve on playing a bit more controlled. Both the games we played were pretty chaotic and I think that's due to me, just trying to make plays, but I'm going to try and be more reserved.
Thanks for the interview. Do you have any last shoutouts?
WildTurtle: I love all my fans, I guess! I guess... I love all my fans for real.
