Interview with well known Cosplayer, Raychul Moore

A few days ago, I was given the opportunity to interview Raychul Moore. So if you don't know who Raychul Moore is, then this interview should help out a bit. With PAX Prime coming up and all these new games being released and delayed, what are you looking forward to most at PAX Prime?

Raychul: I am hoping to see more on The Last of Us. I cannot see enough of that! But also, one of the best things about PAX Prime is checking out the Indie games they have there. I love seeing the upcoming creative and original games that we will be seeing soon.

 

Now normally when you attend video game conventions, what do you lean toward more, the console gaming or the pc gaming?

Raychul: You know, I used to be a huge PC gamer! I used to play competitively and always kept up-to-date on the latest PC titles, but I am definitely more of a console girl now. I can't keep up with the hardware demands a lot of games need nowadays, unfortunately. But I do still play PC games, just not as much as I used to.

 

I know you attend many events and conventions but is this your first PAX Prime? If not, how many times have you attended PAX Prime or PAX in general? 

Raychul:  Nope, but this my second PAX Prime. I have been to E3 for the past 8 years, and only recently has press had much of a presence at PAX. The last year I went, it was so much fun that am I extremely excited about this year!

 

Many of your fans and supporters know you because your detailed cosplays, what character do you plan on embracing at PAX Prime or do you want to keep that top secret?

Raychul: This will be my first year cosplaying at PAX Prime. Since I do a lot on-camera coverage, I didn't get a lot of chances to cosplay last time. This year I plan on cosplaying as Catherine from the game of the same name.

 

 

 

For those of you who don't Raychul also also has a Youtube channel and Twitch stream so make sure you check those out. So Raychul how long have you been streaming?

Raychul: I have been doing live chats for over 2 years now, and just recently started streaming live gameplay. I love it! Live streaming a game and chatting with viewers at the same time can make a game so much fun, on a whole different level!

 

Who or what got you into live-streaming?

Raychul: My youtube viewers had been asking for a live for a few months before I tried it and was hooked after my first stream. So being a gamer, live streaming gameplay was just a natural progression.

 

Were you skeptical about streaming, like were you nervous that people wouldn't watch or would put you down?

Raychul: Sure, I think that's a natural fear for anyone who is going to put themselves out in the public's eye, but I am super lucky and just happen to have some of the best viewers/subscribers/fans ever!

 

Have you ever thought about being a shoutcaster for a stream or event?

Raychul: I don't think I am quick-witted enough for that or I would just get so into watching the gameplay that I forget to continue talking.

 

You have done a lot within the industry already, so do you plan on furthering your career by attempting to branch out to new things such as shoutcasting, competitive playing, or hosting events or tournaments?

Raychul: Not really. I like what I am doing now. I started out in the game industry as a journalist, so there is part of me that feels like being paid to host an event for a specific game might confuse others or look badly on my media career when I review games. I love what I do, and I just wanna keep doing more of that, like reviewing games, doing live video game news shows and covering gaming conventions.

 

Is there anyone or any company you would like to work with in 2013?

Raychul: My dream companies to work for would be EGMNow, Machinima or GameTrailers. I really love being on the media side of the industry.

 

Do you plan on trying to obtain any sponsors for your stream or youtube?

Raychul: My youtube is partnered with Machinima and I have also recently become a partner with EGMNow. My Twitch channel is also a twitch partner.

 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Do you think you will still be doing cosplays and working in the gaming scene?

Raychul: Oh I definitely plan on still cosplaying. As fas as gaming, I will doing that until I am in my grave. I have been gaming since I was 5 years old, so why would I stop now? Cosplay is my hobby, gaming is my life.

 

Is there any advice you would like to give to who people want to make it into the gaming indsutry, whether it be streaming, youtube videos, etc.?

Raychul: Yep, just do it! Grab a webcam and go for it Don't count your success on how much you make or don't make off your videos, count yourself successful because you're doing something you love.
