Getting to know: Starcraft 2 streamer Livinpink.
On Monday July 30th Geneviève Forget, better known as Livinpink, took a timeout from playing Starcraft 2 and streaming to give me an interview. Livinpink fans I had to steal her away from you for a bit but this interview should make up for it. Just know she did it for you, her fans, because she loves you all.
In this interview Livinpink talks about streaming, future plans, and gives advice. I hope you enjoy the interview and take somthing positive away from it.
"Livinpink focused in on MLG meeting"
Hello, let's get started. How long have you been streaming?
Livinpink: I guess around october 2011 or september 2011 and that was on my first streaming account actually, http://www.twitch.tv/2rax/
That's a decent amount of time, would you say you have built a decent fan base?
Livinpink: yeah but i still have a lot of work ahead of me. i think the content i produce is entertaining and that a lot more people would be interested in watching my stream but they just havent heard of me yet. i am growing many fanbases, also. I do interviews, streaming and casting for Playhem
Is Playhem the only sponsor/partner you have picked up from streaming and videos?
Livinpink: No, I am also working and partnered with CyberActiv, but I am thinking of expanding and finding sponsors for the many esports related activities I do.
Are there any specfic companys or people you would like to work with or get partnered with?
Livinpink: Any company that would think additional exposure would be nice for them or wants to support esports. I dont really mind. Could be from energy drinks to computer gear or a team or company that wants coverage at gaming events.
I feel exactly the same way. Do you plan on uploading or streaming yourself casting?
LivinPink: For the moment, I think I will just keep casting for Playhem and the other occasional gigs I get. I might start in a semi-distant future to do casting on my personal channel but I dont think it would benefit me that much right now. I think regular casting for Playhem is the way to go and learn how to work with different cocasters.
Has casting for Playhem or casting in general helped you develop more in starcraft 2?
LivinPink: Yeah it shows me many different playstyles and also gives me better insight from the perspectives of other races. I like to learn from the other casters as well.
Do you practice with any pros to help learn new strategies?
Livinpink: I dont practice with pros but I talk to them on skype to ask for tips and how to tweak my strategies to different difficulties I encounter. Notable people who helped me are GiX, Drewbie and qxc. Qxc is more of the new strat kind of guy and Drewbie helps me figure out matchups. GiX helps me out for TvZ... Tells me what beats him so I can do it on other evil zergs!
Haha those zergs are nasty, are there any upcoming events you plan on competiting in and using some of the strats you have been taught?
Livinpink: I will be competing at MLG Raleigh! I will also compete at the next LAN ETS for sure (a local tournament in Quebec). I might compete at MLG Dallas.
Those are some pretty big events, will you only be playing terran that events or will suprised eveyone and try a new class?
Livinpink: I will stick with my guns and play with Terran, at least or MLG Raleigh.
I've noticed you have been streaming League of Legends, is this for fun or do you plan on playing league competitively also?
Livinpink: At the moment it is mostly for fun but I do have a not so secret plan of maybe forming an all-female team with some friends.
"Livinpink with SC2 player Julia 'ailuj' Childress"
That would be pretty cool, then you could win some events and get a gaming house. Your team could be like the female verison of TSM, haha.
Livinpink: Haha yeah it would be pretty awesome! Would love to live with the girls who I have talked to so far.
And then you let would let me be the manager or intern, right? Haha
Livinpink: I am actually thinking I will need a manager someday because I am pretty bad at asking for money and if I want to be involved in esports full time at some point I will need to make money!
Well remember I applied for the position first haha. So do you see yourself working in esports in the next 4 or 5 years?
Livinpink: I hope so. It will depend on how things turn out tho. I will finish lawschool (I still have one year left). And then we will see where I am at then. If I can live from only esports and gaming-related things I might just do that because it really is the thing that I have a passion for. I do need to make some money at some point tho so if it does not work out the way I hope it will I will probably be a lawyer ... or a lawyer for esports. It would be okay if it only becomes a part-time thing. I just wish to at least be involved in some way!

Well I wish you best of luck with everything but most importantly good luck at Raleigh, LAN ETS, and Dallas (if you go). Also where can you newer fans go to support you or show you some love?
LivinPink: Thank you and thanks for this interview! :) They can follow me on twitch.tv/livinpink, on Twitter @LivinpinkSC2, facebook.com/Livinpink, youtube.com/livinpink and they can go check out the interviews I did at past esports events on youtube.com/girlsofstarcraft!
