FIFA 11 – Formation Guide
One of the most important aspects of playing FIFA competitively is choosing the right formation. To help you choose the best formation, Team Dignitas FIFA player Chris 'ChriSSyB' Bullard wrote a guide on the Intel Game-On website.
Chris explains what he thinks are the best formations to use and talks about the differences with other formations. This is a great guide for every FIFA player who wants to take his game to the next level.

"The key difference between 4-1-2-1-2 (1) and 4-1-2-1-2 (2) is the first uses wide midfielders (LM and RM), whilst the second uses the left and right midfielders to operate in the middle (RCM and LCM). Whilst the 4-1-2-1-2 (1) provides width and a greater attacking threat, it also leaves big gaps in central midfield and your DM is in danger of being left exposed (making you susceptible to counter-attacks). The 4-1-2-1-2 (2) strengthens your defence and even your central midfielders can help out, potentially making for a seven man defensive wall! The price you pay for this security is a greater difficulty in retaining the ball. With so many players clustered together in the centre of the pitch, you will struggle to find suitable counter-attacking outlets."
