Blog: Going to Gadget Show Live

On the 3-7th of April, the NEC, Birmingham played host to the Gadget Show Live, a tech expo hosted by the people who run the TV show, "The Gadget Show". This expo is known for showing gadgets and “boys toys” for all to see, it is a 6 day event where people come to see what kind of tools are available for their trade, come to look for some tips on potential buys for their home, or event just to look at what's on offer, whatever the flavour you want to see, if it's electronic then chances are that the best tech options are here, whether it be gaming, or gardening, you generally find something for your tastes if your a fan of gadgets.

I first arrived, quite early on the sunday for the day to see what was happenig with the tech world it was apparent that this was a popular event, even at 9am the hall was crowded, although not as much as when it got to around midday, then you could barely walk from one booth to another, which wasn't fun at all, but cannot be helped when you go to an event of this size and popularity.

Generally I think I stuck a little around the gaming area, watching the CS:GO tournament being held there and played a few rounds on some of the games on show, such as Shootmania: Storm on the Alienware booth, and Grid 2 on it's own booth, I had a blast here definitely. The booths were really well presented and the bigger booths seemed to be theyre own little show, within the show, which was a pretty cool atmosphere to be around, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves which was good to see.

The rest of the show, was interesting, however I just found that I walked past a lot of the stuff that was there, it was a good event, the variety was a little overwhelming and you don't tend to know where to start with the event. The people on the booths were awesome and talking to them about their product really showed me how into their product the people were, they knew everything and more about the thing they were there to show off and then some!

Overall I think that I will end up going again, I love going to these events and looking at what modern tech has to offer me, but I also think that I would take the gaming events over these kind of events any day! hopefully I will be able to attend the next one and see what is happening with tech at that time too!
