Blog: i48 in a Nutshell!

On the weekend of the 22nd of march to the 25th we had the spring Insomnia LAN hosted by Multiplay, i48. For those of you who don't know what i48 is, it is an event known as a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) event held in Telford, United Kingdom, where people come from all over to and bring their gaming rigs to play games and hang out with other gamers that are into the same things they are.

I attended this event, same as the last edition, though I did stay for the entire event this time, rather then just one day. It was an amazing event with tournaments being held, with some nice looking prize pools, such as the ESET UK Masters tournament which had a £10,000 prize pool and quite the turnout, with a few well known players making an appearance, such as Team Liquid's TLO, Ret and Snute, as well some korean players such as Axiom Gaming's CranK and Western Wolves' Sting to name some of them. We also had the League of Legends tournament, with some teams with interesting names taking part.

The thing I loved about going to LAN at i47 is that the community that attends is always, and I mean always, fun to be around, you always have a laugh and a discussion about your favourite games and there is always something to do if you are away from your PC. Last iSeries I went as press and wasn't there for the full event, this time I decided to go with my PC and experience the full thing. I don't think I have the ability to describe how much fun and good times I had there, the 3 day experience is definitely something I would recommend for any gaming enthusiast console or PC. Book your ticket and try out the experience.

The exhibition was almost always bustling with gamers, both here for LAN looking to socialise and look at what was on offer at the event, with companies turning up showcasing, some high end rigs, and products, Team Dignitas was also there, as they always are, they hosted Counter Strike : Global Offensive tournaments for some cool prizes and hung out with some of the community.

Overall the event was one of the best I have ever been to and I cannot digress enough how much I look forward to seeing the next event and how they improve. A big shout out to all the guys at Multiplay who made everything possible, like the pub quiz and all the tournaments, and also to the staff at the The International, for such an awesome event! See you guys at the next one!
