A Few Simple Smokes For T Side Nuke

With CS:GO maps becoming more and more CT sided, Nuke is arguably one of the most CT sided maps in the game. With its tight corners and exposed outer positions, it is incredibly difficult to try and take any site as a terrorist no matter what level you play at. Even the pros dread the day they start T side on nuke! Outers can be heavily controlled with a single awp or even a scout and can prove deadly without the proper smokes or flashes to be able to cross and execute onto a site.

In this guide I’ll show you some basic smokes in which you can use to block off any enemies trying to control outers and assist with crossing into secret or even a locker / annex push. These smokes are ideal for a five man push at outers or alternatively a four man push with one lurker in either radio or lobby/hut. There are many ways to conduct each smoke throw and I'll try and show what I find works best. To ensure you are able to line these smoke up correctly, set your view model to classic in game.

Annex Smoke -

The first smoke is used to cut off annex and block anyone who might be waiting with a rifle. This is a crucial smoke due to it being so helpful when trying to cross. Once out of spawn, you want to come to the two fence poles as shown in the screenshot below. We will use this as a reference point to make it easier for us to lineup the proper position every time we want to attempt to smoke off annex.

Once reaching this fence, walk up to it position yourself as close as possible. Line up the wall with the corner of the fence until they are almost joining and place your crosshair in the gap. Ensure the crosshair is between the wall and the fence as it's crucial to getting it right every time.

After positioning yourself correctly between the fence and the wall, turn around with a smoke out ready in hand and look at silo. Position your thumb with the right hand side line and continue up until you reach the intersecting horizontal line. Upon reaching the intersection point, move your thumb slightly to the left, in between the three little dots positioned above and below the horizontal line. This is exactly where we would want to throw the smoke and will make more sense once you see the screenshot. Release the smoke and if all is done correctly, it should smoke off annex.

There she goes! Your first outers smoke has been thrown. As you can see it smokes off all of annex and some of the T red /mid spawn area. If someone is spotting from annex to see how many people cross into secret, theres no chance of them being able to see anything unless they push out. I recommend this smoke be used in conjunction with the other two smokes listed below.

Garage Smoke -

This garage smoke can be used to block off mostly all of garage (depending on how well you throw it) and not allow any visibility to a sniper. To throw this smoke we use very similar positions as the annex smoke with a few tweaks to get it to land in the right place. First off position yourself so your crosshair is in line with the green bin and the fence post, and once again, get as close to it as possible.

Next you're going to want to turn around to silo and pull your smoke out ready to throw. Lineup your thumb with the small indent in between the vertical lines and throw the smoke. Depending on how accurate you're able to get it, this should smoke off all of garage making it much safer to cross without the risk of getting picked off early into the game.

Outers Heaven Smoke -

The final smoke I'm going to demonstrate smokes off heaven, which is a common spot to sit with an array of weapons to spot how many cross into secret and even get a few picks if they're lucky. Doing the smoke from this position is extremely hard without practice due to having to be precise in where you throw it, however I found that in the long run it turned out much quicker and easier than some of the other smokes I've seen.
What you're going to want to do is position yourself inside the corner of the two crates just outside of T spawn.

Aim your crosshair slightly under the timber joining as shown below. Jump and throw your smoke over the top and it should pop in the perfect position. Unless someone has already pushed up onto the end of catwalk, the CT's won't be able to tell how many have crossed or be able to get a pick from there.

These smokes may seem hard at first however with a bit of practice will become easier and easier proving to be a great asset when trying to pick up rounds on nuke. I highly recommend using all three of these together if it's viable as it provides solid outers protection from the most common spots to sit as a CT. Using a flash to pop over the top as well before the push would make it even easier for you as a team.

To help in practicing these smokes, check out my other guide which gives you the necessary commands to be able to see where the smokes are thrown / land.
