Mirage Offensive Strategies: Taking A Site

The map mirage is a Counter-Terrorist sided map. Most terrorists will run into the bombsite with little to no preparation. The A bomb site on Mirage is not easy to take over which is why having little to no preparation will not work. In order to take the bombsite your teamwork needs to be fluid and connected. Smokes and flashes are essential to the proper execution of the strategy. Hopefully this guide will help your team take over A site quickly, efficiently and safely.

Dividing up:
The first thing that your team needs to decide is who is going into the Palace and who is going down to A ramp. For this strategy send 3 players to A ramp and 2 into the Palace.

A Ramp:
The three players who are going to the A ramp are crucial. They will take the brunt of the damage and be involved in more firefights. Due to the fact that they are so important, it is important not to take any damage before making your push. The Counter-Terrorist team will typically pre-nade the A ramp which can injure or kill some of the terrorists. To avoid taking damage, it is imperative that the terrorists do not show any activity on the A ramp prior to the moment when all of the smokes and flashes are ready and the team is prepared to take the A bombsite.

The first smoke that is needed will smoke off the Window Room. This smoke will help prevent the terrorists in Palace from being killed when they finally peek the corner. In order to throw the smoke you need to go to the place seen in the picture below. To line up for the smoke, wedge yourself in the corner between the wood beam and the wall. Aim and release.

Window Room Smoke

After the smoke is thrown, jump down and throw a flash over the ramp. This flash will help your team make the cross from the right side of the ramp to the left where the next smoke is thrown from. The flash can be thrown by aiming (As seen below), running and jumping.

Ramp Flash

After the flash is thrown over the ramp, your team will need to throw the second smoke. This smoke will protect the ramp players from getting killed as soon as they run out of the ramp. It will allow your team to move to Tetris safely. To throw the smoke, line up at the bottom of the stairs run and throw. Make sure that you keep running after you throw it for a few steps. It will ensure that you throw the smoke far enough. You might also want to throw a flash in the same way right after the smoke.

Tetris Smoke

The last smoke you will need is a smoke for stairs. To throw, simply aim at the doorway above stairs. Aim and release. This smoke will help your teammates at palace by blocking the Counter-Terrorist who is on stairs. These smokes should allow for a clean take of the A bomb site.

Stairs

Palace:
The Palace players are crucial to the execution of the strategy. An awp is helpful for a palace player but not a necessity. In order to protect yourselves as well as your teammates on A ramp, the first smoke to be thrown will be a smoke for CT spawn. To throw the smoke, line up at the column seen in the picture below. Aim at the same spot as in the photo, tap w and then space.

It's a fairly difficult smoke to throw, I would recommend practicing this one. However, if executed properly it provides a large advantage for the team. It renders the CT player useless as well as fast rotators from B site. Due to the fact that the palace players have the hardest time getting onto the bomb site without getting killed, it is crucial to wait for your team on A ramp to throw all of their smokes before peeking out of Palace. I would recommend throwing a flash or two out of Palace before peeking. To do this, stand in the place seen below, run and release.

It will flash anyone who is attempting to kill you from on top of the scaffolding. After the flash/flashes are thrown and your team is ready to push. Simply push out of ramp and Palace simultaneously. It should lead to a quick, efficient take of A site.

Defense:
After taking the bomb site, you need to defend. The most common spots for Counter-Terrorists are CT spawn, Window Room, Connector, Stairs, under scaffolding and firebox on site. To defend properly, plant the bomb in the open where it can be seen from ramp. Put a player on ram who can listen for a flank and kill anyone who is trying to plant the bomb. Try to avoid obvious spots that Counter-Terrorists expect. These spots are identical to the spots the Counter-Terrorists play the most. You can play these but avoid only using the spots listed above. This guide should help your terrorist side on Mirage. If executed properly, the strategy will help keep your team safer and more efficient.
