Dust 2 Smokes/Flashes for Bombsite A as Terrorists

Bombsite A is notorious, particularly at lower ranks, for its difficulty to take. An AWPer on form can destroy terrorist rushes from a number of spots. Using these smokes and flashes can help you take Bombsite A quickly and efficiently with a minimal number of casualities.
Taking Catwalk
Catwalk is a particularly tricky area to take. The number of strong defensive positions can give even the most experienced entry fraggers a hard time.

A simple flash thrown in this spot whilst running should blind any enemies playing CLOSE on short, allowing terrorists to pick up an easy kill.

This next flash, when mastered, allows for rapid entry onto A site and will blind Counter-Terrorists playing from site, ramp and from spots closer to Counter-Terrorist spawn. However, it does not blind CTs playing in goose.

Firstly, aim at the spot in the image above. Then proceed to run forwards until the second the model starts to climb the stairs. Immediately let go of the flash bang and it should bounce straight off the stairs, pop flashing any Counter-terrorists watching short. The strength of this particular flashbang is that there is NO time for CT's to react to it, even those with the fastest reactions will be unable to turn away in time.
As you can see, the flashbang hits the very top of the smooth stair surface and deploys just past the wall. I find this flashbang best used when time is running low, or when catwalk has been taken very early into the round when there is still Counter-Terrorists long. It does require practice but is deadly when mastered.

Alternative Long Flash
Sometimes, the standard flashes over long doors are just not enough. Many a time has a terrorist rush been crushed by Counter-Terrorists on corner and pit, who for whatever reason have avoided blindness from normal flashes. This slightly more unorthodox flash is useful when terrorists KNOW there is an AWPer on the corner or a strong player close.
Aim at the telephone wire seen above. Run forward for a split second and jump! It will take a few times to perfect, but when done correctly, the flashbang hits the arch of the door and rebounds back towards long flashing any enemy watching long door.
Try it out for yourself! There is enough time to turn around and run through the door as the flashbang explodes, catching Counter-Terrorists totally unware. Although unorthodox, this flashbang is a valuble weapon in any player's arsenal. However, it does take time to learn.

Alternative Crossover Smoke
Most players have a preferred set of smokes that they use each match when neccesary. Over time and at higher ranks, experienced players predict these and can therefore take steps to catch out unsuspecting terrorists carrying out standard smokes. I think that this is the #1 crossover smoke for Bombsite A in the game. Every terrorist player knows that they are susceptible to AWPers watching the long crossover, in some cases the combination of a rotating B player and the Counter-Terrorist playing mid (usually AWP) can wipe the whole terrorist team. The player utilising this smoke is unseen from everywhere on A site , because you do not even need to peek past the wall for it to land PERFECTLY in the crossover spot.

Aim at the very base of the wall with your crosshair and run forward with smoke grenade cocked until the player model is in line with the doorway on the left. Release the smoke grenade at this point and it should bounce off the tilted surface and smoke off the whole crossover.
The smoke can be thrown whilst rushing and although it can be thrown from wider angles off the tilted wall, it is better to stay as close to the doorway as possible to allow for full smoke coverage.

Counter-Terrorist Spawn Smoke
In some cases it is not neccesary to smoke the crossover and is instead far more effective to smoke off Counter-Terrorist spawn entirely. This smoke is thrown from the same starting position as the crossover smoke but requires good timing and a running jump!
Aim at the bottom-left corner of the highest window (see crosshair for reference). Run until in line with the door, jump and release. The smoke should bounce off of the wall, again off the roof of the building closest to A site and land in the centre of the Counter-Terrorist spawn entrance.
This is another difficult smoke, but is almost unplayable against as a Counter-Terrorist. Try this as an alternative to smoking crossover and get one of your teammates to use this next smoke if you are worried about being vunerable to players on short.

The Short Smoke
When used in conjunction with the CT spawn smoke, Counter-Terrorists on A site are completely isolated from the rest of their team. This means one thing, a certain plant and an incredibly difficult Counter-Terrorist retake. The smoke utilises a building that I have seen unused with any grenade until now.

Line the corner of the box on site with the very edge of the wall. Run forward, jump and throw! The smoke lands on the wall on short and deploys just past short box. Counter-Terrorists on short are either exposed, prevented from rotating or engulfed completely.
As can be seen, there is no way of being picked off by a Counter-Terrorist on short. With proper team communication, teammates in mid can flank the Counter-Terrorist in this position and then push through the smoke onto site to help the plant. I would not use this smoke on its own (unless in a 1v1) as it is most dangerous when used with either the crossover or Counter-Terrorist spawn smoke.

Effectiveness 5/5 (when used with a crossover or CT spawn smoke)
Cheers for reading this guide and look out for my next guide on defending Bombsite A as a Counter-Terrorist.
