Imaqtpie on LCS Superweek, the upcoming TSM & LMQ games and more!
Fri 30th May 2014 - 5:32pm
Without a doubt last week was a crazy week, not just for fans of Team Dignitas but for anyone keeping track of the NA LCS. With Cloud 9 sitting at 2-2 and suffering their first consecutive losses in the team's history, Team Dignitas tied with TSM at 3-1, and the LCS' two newest teams LMQ and Complexity causing upsets this week.
With week one of NA LCS behind us, I sat down and wrote out a few questions for Team Dignitas' AD Carry Michael 'Imaqtpie' Santana regarding the past week, the week ahead of Team Dignitas, and a few other things.
So you just came back from a short break between LCS splits and powered through super week, coming out 3-1 with one of those wins being against the defending North American champions, Cloud 9. With Zionspartan and Shiphtur in the top and middle lanes respectively, it looks like the team is overall much stronger than the last split just looking at the past week's performance. What are your thoughts on Team Dignitas' overall power this split compared to previous splits/seasons?
Imaqtpie: I am very excited with the new roster, Zion and shiphtur are both great guys and have a good sense of the game. I cant wait to play with them more!
There were of course some great games this past week, with Cloud 9 being the game that lit the fuse on the now rocket powered Team Dignitas hype train. There was also of course, the defeat against Curse in a very back and forth game that came down to a number of tense moments. Overall, what has the team taken from this past week and the results of the four matches played?
Imaqtpie: What we learned from the past week is that we should always try our hardest and never give up because when it comes down to it winners never quit and quitters never win.
Looking ahead now, a lot of change went on in the NA LCS of course, roster changes, teams being relegated, and new teams working their way into the NA LCS. LMQ and Complexity are of course the two new faces on the scene and a victory against Complexity has already been secured, with the match against LMQ coming up in just under a week. What are your thoughts on LMQ as a team and how do you feel about the upcoming matchup?
Imaqtpie: I love LMQ, they are a bunch of crazy aggressive guys and I'll be very excited to play against them, it will be a good game for sure.
Of course, that's not all, next week also pits you against Team Solo Mid, who is of course one of the other teams who underwent significant roster changes. What are your thoughts on going against the new TSM lineup with your own new lineup that's proven itself against Cloud 9?
Imaqtpie: Can't wait to play against TSM, should be fun!
Alright, so let's get off the NA LCS for a moment and just talk a bit about the new patch that was released recently and a couple of other things. We've seen some Feral Flare nerfs, Kha'zix got hit with the nerf bat, and the addition of Braum to the game. Let's just talk overall for the moment, what are your thoughts on the recent patch?
Imaqtpie: I think this patch has a lot of variables that are going to make for some crazy and fun games and I can't wait to exploit all the vulnerabilities that this patch has to offer! It should be an exciting week filled with great games and tense moments and if you are a fan of League of Legends or maybe just esports make sure you check out these action packed games.
These are going to be some games that you do not want to miss out on since the new patch has changed a lot and it will be up to all the teams to figure out all the neat new tricks that all these changes have made. I know for me personally im going to be rethink my ADC pool because a lot of things have happened for my role and I don't want to mention it because I dont want to give away any of my new strats but if you watch my stream you will most likely figure some of them out already.
If not, then make sure to watch NA LCS because you will be able to find them there when we play our match vs LMQ and TSM who I imagine also are going to be doing a lot of different things when it comes to League and even bottom lane because it's a whole new world!
Has much changed in the bottom lane meta with these changes and the addition of Braum? We're seeing Zyra again from Kiwikid and the Gragas rework has lead people to start running him as a support.
Imaqtpie: Gragas isn't that great of a support, but I could see him being played.
When I'm watching you and Kiwikid stream duo queue I always see you guys goofing around and having a good time win or lose, tilt never really seems to happen or set in. To a player like me attitude is really important, how do you guys do so well at always having a good time despite winning or losing?
Imaqtpie: Well when you have your job as professional gamer suddenly everything else starts to look a lot better, I don't really mind the outcome because at the end of the day I know I'm really blessed.
What about the rest of the team? You've said before that you usually like duo queue with supports and another lane that I can't remember at this time, I believe it was top though. Will we be seeing any duo queue with Zionspartan and Shiphtur?
Imaqtpie: Yeah, I think ZionSpartan and Shiphtur are both really cool guys so probably.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, is there any last thing you want to add?
Imaqtpie: I'd like to thank Team Dignitas and you for this wonderful interview!!!!! Also a big shoutout to our sponsors for their support, thanks!!!!!!
