Team Dignitas’ HGC Preview: Week 7

Fri 1st Sep 2017 - 11:52am

After last week’s packed schedule, Team Dignitas are heading into another busy weekend. The team showed great force in their important series against Fnatic, taking it all the way to a game 5, but losing 3-2. They won their series against Playing Ducks with a score of 3-2. Currently, Team Dignitas sits at 3rd place in the standings, showing that every game, win or lose, matters. The middle of the pack in EU is all very close, so Team Dignitas will need to get some clean wins this weekend to bump themselves out of the group!

Team Dignitas vs. Team Good Guys - Friday, September 1st at 11:00 am PDT / 8:00 pm CEST

Team Good Guys have been having a difficult first season of HGC, as they currently are last in the rankings. But, TGG proved that EU is a lot closer than we thought, earning themselves a win against Team expert a couple weeks ago. Team Dignitas will have to watch out for the improvements in shot calling and communication from Team Good Guys. The strength for Team Dignitas will be in their experience and ability to make effective decisions to have clean games.

The main match-up for this series will be between Joshua “Snitch” Bennett and Tobias “mTwRaiDbawZ” Podeszwa. These are the two main flex players for their teams, so there is a wide range of possibilities for their picks in the draft. Primarily, it may come down to who gets Valla, a hero Snitch shined on last week, and one RaiDbawZ has also shown skills on. Depending on the battleground, we could also see some popular flex picks such as Genji or Greymane, and maybe even a rare Lunara.

Team Dignitas vs. Team expert - Sunday, September 3rd at 11:00 am PDT / 8:00 pm CEST

Team expert and Team Dignitas are prime candidates to qualify for BlizzCon, so this match is very important to both teams. Jérôme "JayPL" Trinh and Benjamin “BadBenny” Eekenulv will have their work cut out for them as the tanks, as their ability to set-up engages for their team will be a big part of winning the team fights. Stun tanks such at Anub’arak and E.T.C. are back in popularity, as they offer stuns for engaging and disengaging, as well as a global heroic for E.T.C. that can be very useful on large battlegrounds.

For JayPL, it’s very likely that Stitches may make it into the draft, as nearly every Hook he throws connects on an enemy teammate. It will come down to the rest of Team Dignitas being able to follow up with stuns or damage to get kills. The team will have to be careful of BadBenny’s niche Diablo pick on smaller maps. If Diablo gets a hold of a squishy character with his Shadow Charge and Overpower combo, it’s very likely they won’t make it out alive. Team Dignitas will need to be sure to play their own game and play the heroes that they feel strongest on to beat out Team expert.
