The OP Picks That You Should Be Banning

Wed 12th Apr 2017 - 12:13pm

Players are still wasting bans on champion that have almost lost their relevance entirely but are still played in the LCS. This causes players to think that these champions are still strong. I'm here to show you the must bans in your solo queue games and who is not relevant anymore.

Leblanc received one huge nerf to her kit and a waveclear buff as well in Patch 7.5. Her Q (Shatter Orb) now does 80% damage to minions instead of 40%. While this may sound very good for her waveclear ability, the nerf she received puts her power level at close to zero. Her W (Distortion) has had its damage massively lowered (85/120/155/190/225 (+0.6 ability power) 40/55/70/85/100 (+0.2 ability power)). Her Mimic Distortion (R + W) also had its damage lowered (125/225/325 (+0.5 ability power) 60/120/180 (+0.3 ability power)).

These number changes to her W damage has dropped her from top tier to bottom tier according to Leblanc is not a ban worthy champion and you should look for other power picks to use your ban on.

Who to ban instead: Katarina, Ahri, and Talon.

All of these champions have the potential to destroy your solo queue games and have not been nerfed yet. If you don't want an assassin takeover, I would recommend banning these champions.

Rengar also had some nerfs seeing he has dominated the jungle meta for a few patches. In Patch 7.5, his armor was reduced (25.88 armor 22 armor) making him more vulnerable in the jungle. His W (Battle Roar) had also been adjusted. Previously in the jungle, any grey health he gained from monsters would be healed 100%. Instead, he only heals 75% of the damage taken from monsters. In Patch 7.7, his Q's base damage was nerfed (35/55/75/95/115 25/45/65/85/105 (empowered damage unchanged)) and the AD ratio was nerfed (0.3/0.4/0.5/0.6/0.7 bonus attack damage 0.2/0.3/0.4/0.5/0.6 bonus attack damage (empowered damage unchanged)). Keep in mind this is per strike of the Q.

This lowers Rengar's sustain in the jungle and impacts his early game immensely. He will probably drop a couple more tiers but will still be a big menace to squishies on the rift.

Who to ban instead:  Graves, Lee Sin, and Shaco

Graves has been the most relevant jungler for two patches at the time of writing and has the best damage in the jungle right now both in solo queue and in the LCS. The same applies for Lee Sin, he can take an early game lead and snowball it hard for his team making it almost impossible to comeback. Shaco, however, is the biggest menace in solo queue and can also snowball the early game really hard while being able to stay relevant later.

Varus is one of the ADC's that is was strong in the bot lane right now. His power in the ADC position has made him a must ban or must pick in both solo queue and competitive. Riot hit one of his strongest points, his poke, and made some very unique changes. His Q (Piercing Arrow) has had its ratio lowered (100 - 165% total attack damage, scaling with charge duration 100 - 150% total attack damage, scaling with charge duration). The cooldown on Piercing Arrow has been increased as well (16/14/12/10/8 seconds 20/18/16/14/12 seconds). However, now his Q is reduced by 4 seconds if it detonates blight stacks on a champion. Deathfire's Touch AD ratio had also been reduced (65% to 45%) making him even weaker.

This change has brought Varus down from Top tier to Low tier in the ADC lineup for patch 7.5 according to These nerfs make him lose his relevance in the bot lane which means other, stronger champions should be banned.

Who to ban instead: Lucian, Kog'Maw, and Twitch

Ever since the Blade of the Ruined King buffs in Patch 7.5, Lucian, Kog'Maw, and Twitch have all been shoved to the top of the ADC tier list and should be respected in solo queue. With supports like Lulu that can protect the ADC with great utilities, they should be feared.

Lulu has come up to be one of the strongest supports in the bot lane meta at the moment. Lulu has great poke, amazing utility and can protect the ADC very well with her cooldowns being so low. What makes her so strong is her attack speed buff on her W which gives the target ally attack speed based on ability rank (25/30/35/40/45%) for 3/3.25/3.50/3.75/4 seconds as well as her low cooldown shields and slows. Her utility at the moment is much stronger than that of any other support currently in League of Legends.

Who to ban: Lulu

With hypercarries being rampant in the bot lane meta, she can help her carry pump out a ton of damage in a short amount of time while protecting them. If you have the chance to ban, Lulu should definitely be your priority ban.

Camille is a very controversial champion as since her release she has head many strengths and few weaknesses. As a high mobility, high damage diver, Riot decided to nerf her numbers. Her 2nd proc of Q does a lot less true damage conversion in the laning phase (40% at level 1) and her ultimate lasts for a less amount of time (2.5/3.25/4 seconds from 4 seconds at all ranks). This makes her a lot less powerful in the early laning phase to make sure that she's justified in having her insane late game fighting.

Who to ban instead: Darius, Gangplank, and Renekton

Gangplank (according to is the number one top laner due to his barrel damage and global pressure with his ultimate. This makes him a great solo queue pick for carrying games. Darius and Renekton are lane bullies in the top lane and currently crowd other picks out of the champ pool.
